STATES SUE TRUMP OVER BORDER POLICY… Ten states are filing a lawsuit against the Trump administration over its “zero tolerance” policy that has resulted in the separation of children from parents who brought them to the southern border. Washington Attorney General Bob Ferguson will lead the delegation challenging the constitutionality of the policy and the executive order Trump signed to replace it with. Other stated that have joined the lawsuit so far are Oregon, California, Massachusetts, Maryland, New Mexico, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Iowa, Illinois and Minnesota.

ONLINE COMPANIES TO PAY TAXES… The Supreme Court voted 5-4 yesterday to overturn a 1992 Supreme Court decision that prevented online companies from collecting and paying sales taxes. The decision was considered a victory for brick-and-mortar stores which had argued that they were at a disadvantage. In writing the majority opinion, Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy acknowledged that “The Internet’s prevalence and power have changed the dynamics of the national economy.”

CHARLES KRAUTHAMMER DIES… Pulitzer Prize-winning Washington Post columnist and political pundit Charles Krauthammer died yesterday following a battle with cancer. He was 68. As an influential voice among Republicans, he is remembered for urging the U.S. to go to war in Iraq and, more recently, denouncing Donald Trump.

KOKO THE GORILLA DIES… The gorilla named Koko that became famous for its ability to use sign language to communicate with humans, died in its sleep yesterday morning. According to The Gorilla Foundation, Koko was born July 4, 1971, and was chosen as an infant to work on a language-research project with psychologist Penny Patterson at the San Francisco Zoo. One of Koko’s self-portraits was used as a National Geographic cover in 1978 and the gorilla developed a friendship with the late actor Robin Williams.

RECORD NUMBER OF TRAVELERS EXPECTED FOR FOURTH… The American Automobile Association predicts U.S. travelers will turn out in record numbers over this year’s Fourth of July holiday despite higher gasoline prices. AAA expects some 46.9 million Americans to travel at least 50 miles over the holiday. It would mark the fifth consecutive annual increase and highest travel volume since the group began tracking data 18 years ago.

‘ROSEANNE’ SPINOFF COMING… ABC announced yesterday that is will introduce a “Roseanne” spinoff without Roseanne Barr, who was fired for a racist tweet. The new show is called “The Connors,” and a 10-episode series is scheduled to premiere this fall. Series regulars John Goodman, Laurie Metcalf and Sara Gilbert will be returning in their roles.

ARREST IN RAPPER’S MURDER… The Broward County, Florida, Sheriff’s Department has arrested a suspect in connection with the murder of rapper XXXTentacion. The 20-year-old rapper was fatally shot Monday as he was driving in Deerfield Beach, Florida. The suspect has been identified as 22-year-old Dedrick D. Williams, who was taken into custody yesterday on charges of murder without premeditation, violation of probation, and driving without a valid license.

IN THEATERS… In “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom,” Owen and Claire find themselves having to rescue the remaining dinosaurs on the island when a dormant volcano roars back to life in an extinction-level event. Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard star in the PG-13 film.

COLORADO 6 – N.Y. Mets 4… Nolan Arenado belted a three-run homer in the bottom of the first inning and added a two-run double in the second to lead the Rockies past the Mets. Kyle Freeland (7-6) gave up two runs on five hits over six innings.

Arizona 9 – PITTSBURGH 3… The Diamondbacks got two-run homers from Ketel Marte and Alex Avila in their pounding of the Pirates. Avila also doubled home a run. Jon Jay contributed a two-run double. Zack Godley (8-5) gave up three runs on four hits over six innings. One of the runs was unearned.

CINCINNATI 6 – Chi. Cubs 2… Jesse Winkler unloaded a grand slam as the Reds scored all six runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to down the Cubs. Matt Harvey (2-5) allowed two runs on five hits over six innings.

MILWAUKEE 11 – St. Louis 3… The Brewers took advantage of four Cardinal errors in running away with the win. Manny Pina homered to lead off the bottom of the fourth inning. Eric Thames delivered a bases-clearing triple in the seventh. Brent Suter (8-4) held St. Louis to two runs on two hits over seven innings.

SAN FRANCISCO 3 – San Diego 0… Madison Bumgarner (1-2) pitched three-hit ball over eight innings and the Giants blanked the Padres. Bumgarner also provided all the offense San Francisco needed with a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the fifth inning.

N.Y. YANKEES 4 – Seattle 3… Aaron Judge and Miguel Andujar connected for two-run homers in the bottom of the first inning and the Yankees held on to edge the Mariners and complete a three-game sweep. Luis Severino (11-2) gave up three runs on eight hits over 5-2/3 innings.

Boston 9 – MINNESOTA 2… Mookie Betts went 3-for-6 with an RBI to lead a 16-hit attack and the Red Sox cruised past the Twins. Andrew Benintendi homered with a runner aboard. Xander Bogaerts lined a two-run double. Rick Porcello (9-3) limited Minnesota to one hit over seven shutout innings.

L.A. ANGELS 8 – Toronto 5… Luis Valbuena homered twice and drove in three runs to help power the Angels past the Blue Jays. Kole Calhoun added a two-run shot.

Oakland – CHI. WHITE SOX (ppd)… Rain in Chicago forced postponement of last night’s White Sox-Athletics game. It will be made up as part of a straight doubleheader today.

WASHINGTON 4 – Baltimore 2… Juan Soto’s two-run double in the bottom of the eighth inning sent the Nationals past the Orioles. Anthony Rendon tied the game with a solo homer in the sixth.
