HUNDREDS OF MIGRANT FAMILIES TO BE RELEASED… Trump administration announced yesterday that “hundreds of migrant families” would be released from detention equipped with ankle bracelets. Officials told the New York Times that families with children 5 and younger would be unified and released. The announcement in effect resurrects the Obama-era “catch and release” policy, which President Trump vowed to end.

FOUR MIGRANT FAMILIES REUNITED… The Trump administration claims it has reunited four migrant families before yesterday’s court-imposed deadline. The families were just some of the 102 children under the age of five who were supposed to be reunited by the deadline. The children were separated at the southern border as the result of the Trump administration’s zero-tolerance policies.

MORE TARIFFS UNVEILED… The Trump administration unveiled a list of tariffs yesterday worth up to $200 billion in Chinese imports. CNBC reported that the tariffs were designed to “cause disruptions to China’s economy.” U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer said the 10 percent tariffs were an “appropriate response to obtain the elimination of China’s harmful industrial policies.”

FACEBOOK GAVE RUSSIA AMERICANS’ DATA… WIRED reported yesterday that Facebook gave Russian internet company Mail.ru access to wide-reaching user data through the “hundreds of apps on the platform” it ran as far back as 2009. Mail.ru reportedly ran apps during Facebook’s “old rules” for app developers, which allowed it access to the information of the app user and their friends. The report comes amid outrage Facebook is facing for giving Cambridge Analytica access to user data, which it used for political advertising and targeting.

ALL ABOARD CRASHED ALASKA PLANE RESCUED… Authorities in Alaska say all 11 people aboard a plane that crashed yesterday have been rescued in mountainous terrain on Prince of Wales Island. The downed aircraft was reported to be a float-equipped de Havilland Otter had an emergency locator. The pilot was flying from Prince of Wales Island and bound for Ketchikan when the crash occurred, according to officials.

ENTERTAINMENT
GEORGE CLOONEY IN MOTORBIKE CRASH… George Clooney is reported to be recovering after slamming his motorbike into an oncoming car that turned suddenly into his lane yesterday on the Italian island of Sardinia. Surveillance video of the crash showed a blue Mercedes veering in front of Cooney as it apparently starts to turn into a residential compound near Olbia. Clooney is being thrown over the front of his bike and landing on the asphalt. Cooney was treated at a nearby hospital and released after a few hours.

SACHA BARON COHEN DUPES SARAH PALIN… Former vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin complained on Facebook last night that she got duped into appearing on Sacha Baron Cohen’s new prank TV series. Palin was that the comedian pretended to question her for a “legit Showtime historical documentary.” The interview will appear in Cohen’s show, “Who Is America?” which premieres Sunday on Showtime.

Washington 5 – PITTSBURGH 1… Anthony Rendon homered with a runner aboard in the top of the fifth inning and the Nationals added three more runs in the sixth to put away the Pirates. Jeremy Hellickson (3-1) pitched two-hit ball over five innings.

Milwaukee 8 – MIAMI 4… Christian Yelich went 3-for-4 and knocked in four runs as the Brewers doubled up on the Marlins. Travis Shaw smacked a solo homer.

Philadelphia 7 – N.Y. METS 3… Maikel Franco belted a three-run homer and singled home a run to lead the Phillies past the Mets. Odubel Herrera also went deep for Philadelphia. Enyel De Los Santos allowed three runs on five hits over 6-1/3 innings to win his major league debut.

Arizona 5 – COLORADO 3… David Peralta blasted a go-ahead three-run homer and A.J. Pollock added a solo shot as the Diamondbacks scored four runs in the top of the seventh inning to get past the Rockies. Nick Ahmed homered with the bases empty in the first.

SAN DIEGO 4 – L.A. Dodgers 1… The Padres got a three-run homer from Austin Hedges and a solo shot from Wil Myers in the bottom of the fifth inning and coasted past the Dodgers. San Diego starter Eric Lauer (5-5) came within an out of a complete-game shutout.

Chi. Cubs 2 – SAN FRANCISCO 0… The Cubs scored both runs in the top of the seventh inning to clip the Giants. Addison Russell scored on a wild pitch and Victor Caratini produced an RBI double. Jose Quintana (8-6) limited the Giants to three hits over six innings. Three relievers preserved the shutout.

BALTIMORE 6 – N.Y. Yankees 5… Jonathan Schoop singled home Caleb Joseph with the winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning to cap the Orioles’ come-from-behind win over the Yankees. Manny Machado smacked a solo homer in the fifth and drilled a game-tying two-run homer in the seventh.

HOUSTON 6 – Oakland 5 (11 innings)… The Astros came up with a pair of runs in the bottom of the 11th inning to outlast the Athletics after blowing a four-run ninth-inning lead. Kyle Tucker scored the winning run when Oakland catcher Jonathan Lucroy threw away Alex Bregman’s nubber in front of the plate. Bregman hit a pair of solo homers for Houston.

BOSTON 8 – Texas 4… The Red Sox ripped the Rangers to extend their winning streak to eight games. Xavier Bogaerts tripled home two runs to cap a five-run bottom of the third inning. Andrew Benintendi, Mitch Moreland and Jackie Bradley Jr. added two RBIs’ apiece.

TAMPA BAY 5 – Detroit 2… Wilson Ramos connected for a three-run homer as the Rays scored all five runs in the bottom of the third inning and cruised past the Tigers. Five Tampa Bay pitchers combined on a five-hitter.

Kansas City 9 – MINNESOTA 4… The Royals pounded the Twins to snap their 10-game skid. Adalberto Mondesi hit a three-run homer and singled home a run. Alex Gordon had a couple of hits and knocked in a pair of runs.

L.A. ANGELS 9 – Seattle 3… Albert Pujols hit a two-run homer and Kole Calhoun added a solo shot as the Angels handled the Mariners. Andrelton Simmons went 3-for-5 with two RBIs.

INTERLEAGUE SCORES
Cincinnati 7 – CLEVELAND 4… The Reds came alive to score all seven runs in the top of the ninth inning and stun the Indians. Adam Duval doubled in two runs and Joey Votto added a three-run double. The comeback spoiled a dominant effort by Cleveland starter Trevor Bauer, who pitched three-hit ball over eight shutout innings and struck out 12

Toronto 6 – ATLANTA 2… Aledmys Diaz lined a two-run double during a five-run top of the eighth inning that carried the Blue Jays past the Braves. Justin Smoak opened the scoring with a solo homer in the third.

St. Louis 14 – CHI. WHITE SOX 2… The Cardinals pounded out 16 hits in the pounding of the White Sox. Dexter Fowler unloaded a grand slam to highlight a seven-run top of the sixth inning. Kolten Wong went 4-for-5 with a two-run homer. Miles Mikolas allowed two runs on three hits over six innings.
