TRUMP-COHEN TAPE AIRS… A tape made public yesterday captures President Trump and his former attorney Michael Cohen discussing how to pay off former Playboy model Karen McDougal for the story of her adulterous affair with Trump. Cohen informs Trump in the recording that he’ll need to open a company to handle the transaction. Trump is heard urging Cohen to “pay with cash,” but Cohen responds “no, no.” Cohen’s attorney Lanny Davis provided CNN with the tape.

WHITE HOUSE ENDING PHONE-CALL READOUTS… CNN reported yesterday that the Trump administration will stop posting official “readouts” of President Trump’s phone calls with foreign leaders. The move is a departure from normal and it’s not known if it’s permanent. The White House has not issued a readout since mid-June.

KEMP WINS GEORGIA GOVERNOR GOP PRIMARY… Georgia Secretary of State Brian Kemp easily won the Republican nomination for governor last night. He defeated Lieutenant Governor Casey Cagle 69 percent to 30 percent. The 53-year-old Kemp, who carries President Trump’s endorsement, advances to face Democrat Stacey Abrams in November’s general election.

OFFICER’S BULLET KILLED TRADER JOE’S MANAGER… Los Angeles Police Chief Michel Moore admitted yesterday that an officer fired the bullet that killed a Trader Joe’s manager during a hostage situation over the weekend. 27-year-old assistant manager Melyda Corado was leaving the store when she was struck by the bullet as officers exchanged fire with a gunman. Corado reportedly ran back inside the store and collapsed behind the manager’s desk.

DEMI LOVATO HOSPITALIZED AFTER OVERDOSE… Demi Lovato was rushed to a hospital early yesterday morning is recovering from a drug overdose. Authorities say Lovato was not cooperative when EMTs treated her at her home and would not disclose which drug she overdosed on. Police found no drugs were found on the premises.

BOARD SAYS COSBY IS A SEXUALLY VIOLENT PREDATOR… The Pennsylvania Sexual Offenders Assessment Board has recommended that authorities classify Bill Cosby as a sexually violent predator. If a judge agrees with the recommendation, Cosby would be required to attend at least monthly sex offender counseling. Prosecutors have asked the judge to schedule a hearing in the matter.

PHILADELPHIA 7 – L.A. Dodgers 4 (16 innings)… Trevor Plouffe connected for a three-run homer in the bottom of the 16th inning to complete the Phillies’ come-from-behind win over the Dodgers. The winning blast came off L.A. position player Enrique Hernandez, who took the mound at the start of the inning after his team ran out of pictures. Jorge Alfaro’s game-tying two-run homer capped a three-run seventh. Nick Williams also homered for Philadelphia.

MIAMI 9 – Atlanta 3… J.T. Realmuto hit a two-run homer and finished with four RBIs as the Marlins ripped the Braves. Starlin Castro blasted a three-run homer. Wei-Yin Chen (3-7) allowed three runs on five hits over six innings.

N.Y. METS 6 – San Diego 3… Devin Mesoraco got things going with a bases-clearing double in the top of the first inning and Michael Conforto added a two-run homer as the Mets doubled up on the Padres. Zack Wheeler (4-6) held San Diego to two runs on four hits over seven innings.

St. Louis 4 – CINCINNATI 2 (11 innings)… Dexter Fowler delivered a tie-breaking two-run homer in the top of the 11th inning and the Cardinals held on to outlast the Reds. Cincinnati’s Eugenio Suares tied the game with a two-run homer in the seventh.

Arizona 5 – CHI. CUBS 1… Clay Buchholz (3-1) held the Cubs to a run on six hits over 6-2/3 innings and the Diamondbacks cruised to the win. Steven Souza went 3-for-3 with an RBI double.

MILWAUKEE 5 – Washington 4 (10 innings)… The Brewers got past the Nationals when Tyler Saladino lifted a sacrifice fly to score Lorenzo Cain with the winning run in the bottom of the 10th inning. Cain singled home Ryan Braun with the tying run in the seventh. Christian Yelich homered with a runner aboard for Milwaukee.

BALTIMORE 7 – Boston 6… Tim Beckham and Jonathan Schoop both hit two-run homers and finished with three RBIs as the Orioles held off the Red Sox.

Minnesota 5 – TORONTO 0… Jose Berrios and two relievers combined on a five-hitter as the Twins blanked the Blue Jays. Eduardo Escobar belted a three-run homer for Minnesota.

N.Y. Yankees 4 – TAMPA BAY 0… Masahiro Tanaka (8-2) tossed a three-hit shutout as the Yankees breezed past the Rays. Tanaka fanned nine and walked just one in the gem. Didi Gregorius’ grounder in the top of the first inning scored Brett Gardner with the only run New York needed. Neil Walker went 2-for-3 with a run-scoring single.

Oakland 13 – TEXAS 10 (10 innings)… The Athletics erased a 10-2 deficit on their way past the Rangers. Khris Davis connected for a tie-breaking three-run homer in the top of the 10th inning. Stephen Piscotty hit a game-tying solo shot in the ninth. Jed Lowrie had three hits and knocked in three runs. Marcus Semien also had three RBIs.

KANSAS CITY 5 – Detroit 4… Salvador Perez went 3-for-4 with a solo homer and RBI single in the Royals’ win over the Tigers. Mike Moustakas added a two-run blast. Burch Smith (1-1) surrendered two runs on one hit over 6-1/3 inning. Burch Smith (1-1) allowed just one hit over 6-1/3 innings in winning for the first time since 2013.

Chi. White Sox 4 – L.A. ANGELS 2… Carlos Rodon limited the Angels to two runs on two hits over 7-2/3 innings and the White Sox hung on for the win. Yoan Moncada hit a solo homer.

Pittsburgh 9 – CLEVELAND 4… The Pirates pounded the Indians and extended their winning streak to 11 games. They got two-run homers from Starling Marte, Gregory Polanco and Josh Bell. Corey Dickerson added a two-run triple. Josh Musgrove (4-4) gave up two runs on five hits over seven innings.

Houston 8 – COLORADO 2 (10 innings)… The Astros erupted to score six runs in the top of the 10th inning to put away the Rockies. Kyle Tucker stroked a pinch-hit two-run triple ahead of George Springer’s two-run homer.

San Francisco 4 – SEATTLE 3… The Giants scored an unearned run in the top of the ninth inning and made it stand in edging the Mariners. Steve Dugar scored the go-ahead run when Seattle second-baseman Dee Gordon threw away Pablo Sandoval’s grounder. Hunter Pence hit a solo homer for San Francisco.

MLB NEWS… The New York Yankees landed Baltimore Orioles left-handed reliever Zach Britton last night in exchange for pitching prospects Dillon Tate, Cody Carroll and Josh Rogers. An Achilles injury has limited the 30-year-old Britton to 16 appearances this season. He has a 3.45 ERA.
