NEW YORK SUBPOENAS COHEN… New York state investigators subpoenaed former Trump lawyer Michael Cohen yesterday as part of their criminal investigation into the Trump Foundation. The subpoena comes a day after Cohen pleaded guilty in Manhattan federal court to eight criminal charges. While entering his plea, Cohen implicated Trump in campaign-finance violations centered on the payoffs of two women to keep them quiet about their affairs with Trump.

TRUMP DECLARES INNOCENCE… President Trump used his Twitter account yesterday to declare that he committed no crimes with regard to the campaign-finance violations longtime personal lawyer Michael Cohen has accused him of. Trump derided Cohen’s skills as a lawyer and accused him of making up stories to get a “deal.” The president also praised the loyalty of his former former campaign Chairman Paul Manafort, who was found guilty of eight counts in his federal tax-evasion and bank fraud trial.

DNC TARGETED IN HACK… The Democratic National Committee has been in contact with the FBI regarding an unsuccessful hacking attempt against its voter database. The DNC says hackers set up fake web pages to trick users into revealing their login information. Authorities have launched an investigation.

BOMB THREAT CLOSES ARLINGTON NATIONAL CEMETERY… A bomb threat prompted the closure of Arlington National Cemetery yesterday. All families, visitors and employees were evacuated safely by noon. Arlington County Police dispatched a bomb-sniffing dog to assist authorities on the scene.

HURRICANE LANE BEARING DOWN ON HAWAII… Hurricane Lane is bearing down on Hawaii as a Category 4 storm with fierce winds of up to 150 mph. A hurricane warning has been issued for the Big Island and Maui, while a hurricane watch is in place for Oahu and Kauai. The storm is expected to bring hurricane-force winds and waves up to 20 feet. Forecasters say more than 20 inches of rain could fall over the next several days.

ENTERTAINMENT
CASE AGAINST KEVIN SPACEY UNDER REVIEW… The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office is reviewing a second sexual-assault case against actor Kevin Spacey. The new review is reportedly based on an accusation that the actor “attacked a man” in Malibu in October 2016. Four months earlier, the county D.A.’s office began reviewing allegations stemming from “events” that reportedly took place in October 1992 in West Hollywood and involved a male adult. Spacey is also facing investigations in London and in Nantucket, Massachusetts.

TOP GUN’ CAST ADDITIONS… Jon Hamm, Ed Harris and Lewis Pullman have joined the cast of the upcoming sequel “Top Gun: Maverick.” The cast already includes Tom Cruise, Val Kilmer, Glen Powell, Jennifer Connelly and Miles Teller. The film is slated for release July 12, 2019.

Atlanta 2 – PITTSBURGH 1… Ronald Acuna led off the game with a homer and Freddie Freeman’s sacrifice fly scored Adam Duvall with the go=-ahead run in the eighth as the Braves edged the Pirates. Julio Teheran (9-7) limited Pittsburgh to a run on two hits over seven innings.

WASHINGTON 8 – Philadelphia 7… Ryan Zimmerman delivered a two-out, two-run homer in the bottom of the ninth inning to lift the Nationals over the Phillies. Bryce Harper went 3-for-5 with an RBI.

N.Y. METS 5 – San Francisco 3… Todd Frazier homered and doubled home a run to lead the Mets past the Giants. Noah Syndergaard (9-3) allowed two runs on five hits over six innings.

MILWAUKEE 4 – Cincinnati 0… Freddy Peralta (6-4) pitched three-hit ball over seven innings and two relievers completed the Brewers’ shutout of the Reds. Christian Yelich went 4-for-4 with a solo homer and a run-scoring single.

COLORADO 6 – San Diego 2… Ian Desmond legged out a two-run triple, Tony Wolters added two RBIs and the Rockies breezed past the Padres. Jon Gray (10-7) gave up two runs on five hits over 6-1/3 innings.

St. Louis 3 – L.A. DODGERS 1… Paul DeJong connected for a tie-breaking two-run homer in the top of the ninth inning and the Cardinals hung on to complete a sweep of the Dodgers. Tyler O’Neill tied the game with a pinch-hit homer in the eighth.

TAMPA BAY 6 – Kansas City 3… Brandon Lowe lined a two-run single, Mallex Smith produced a pair of RBI singles and the Rays doubled up on the Royals for their fourth straight win. Matt Duffy went 2-for-4 with an RBI.

BOSTON 10 – Cleveland 4… Xavier Bogaerts smacked a pair of solo homers and Mitch Moreland added a two-run shot as the Red Sox topped the Indians. Andrew Benintendi gapped a bases-clearing double.

TORONTO 6 – Baltimore 0… Thomas Pannone (1-0) surrendered just one hit over seven innings and got help from two relievers in the Blue Jays’ blanking of the Orioles. Kendrys Morales homered for the fourth straight game. Devon Travis also went deep.

Chi. White Sox 7 – MINNESOTA 3… Adam Engel hit a two-run homer and Matt Davidson singled home two runs during a five-run top of the fifth inning that carried the White Sox past the Twins. Carlos Rodon (5-3) held Minnesota to two runs on three hits over six innings.

Texas 4 – OAKLAND 2… Mike Minor (10-6) surrendered just one hit over six shutout innings as the Rangers downed the Athletics. Shin-Soo Choo and Joey Gallo hit solo homers.

Houston 10 – SEATTLE 7… The Astros jumped out to an 8-0 lead and held off the Mariners. Martin Maldonado went 3-for-5 with a solo homer and three RBIs. Tyler White also homered with the bases empty.

INTERLEAGUE SCORES
Chi. Cubs 8 – DETROIT 2… Javier Baez had a couple of hits, including a three-run homer, as the Cubs put away the Tigers. Dan Bote homered with a runner aboard and Anthony Rizzo added a solo shot. Jon Lester (14-5) allowed a run on seven hits over 5-2/3 innings.

MIAMI 9 – N.Y. Yankees 3… Miguel Rojas blasted a three-run homer during a five-run bottom of the sixth inning and pinch-hitter JT Riddle added a two-run shot in the eighth as the Marlins pounded the Yankees. Austin Dean went 3-for-5 with an RBI.

ARIZONA 5 – L.A. Angels 1… Clay Buchholz (7-2) pitched four-hit ball over seven innings and the Diamondbacks cruised past the Angels. Paul Goldschmidt and David Peralta hit two-run homers.
