TRUMP ACCUSES CHINA OF MEDDLING… President Trump yesterday accused China of plotting to interfere in November’s midterm elections and damage him politically. Trump made the accusation during remarks at the UN Security Council. Trump suggested the effort is payback for the budding trade war he waged with Beijing.

ANOTHER KAVANAUGH ACCUSER… NBC News reported yesterday that the Senate Judiciary Committee is looking into another misconduct claim against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh. An anonymous letter to Colorado Republican Senator Cory Gardner claimed Kavanaugh physically assaulting a woman in 1998 while drunk in the Washington, D.C., area. The complaint was reportedly written by the parent of a woman who witnessed the alleged incident. Four women have accused Kavanaugh of sexual misconduct, including Dr. Christine Blasey Ford, who is scheduled to testify before the Senate Judiciary Committee today about her allegations.

EXECUTION IN TEXAS… The state of Texas executed a 50-year-old man yesterday for the 1998 murder of a woman he suspected of telling people about his drug-dealing activities. Troy Clark was sentenced to death in 2000 for the killing of Christina Muse. The victim was beaten with a wooden board.

SAN FRANCISCO TRANSIT CENTER SHUT DOWN… Officials in San Francisco are trying to determine the source of cracks in support beams that prompted the shut down of the city’s new $2 billion transit center. The Salesforce Transit Center, which opened last month, will remain closed until it can be declared safe. The shutdown created chaos during last night’s rush hour.

FLU KILLED 80K AMERICANS LAST WINTER… The director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Dr. Robert Redfield, told the Associated Press that an estimated 80,000 Americans died of flu and its complications last winter. Flu experts were aware that it was a very bad season, but the death toll is higher than they expected. The death toll was the highest in at least four decades.

CHILDISH GAMBINO POSTPONES SHOWS… Childish Gambino, aka actor Donald Glover, is postponing a handful of concerts due to an injury. The rapper, whose hits include “Redbone” and “This Is America,” cut short a show in Dallas over the weekend after breaking his foot. The newly scheduled dates are set to begin December 2.

SPLITSVILLE FOR SHIA LaBEOUF… Shia LaBeouf and his wife, Mia Goth, are divorcing after almost two years of marriage. The 32-year-old actor has been dating singer FKA Twigs, who was previously engaged to Robert Pattinson. LaBeouf and FKA Twigs are also starring together in his upcoming film “Honey Boy.”

COLORADO 14 – Philadelphia 0… The Rockies bombed the Phillies to win their sixth in a row and move a half-game ahead of the Dodgers atop the NL West. German Marquez tied a major-league record by striking out the first eight batters to open the game and broke Colorado’s single-season strikeout record. David Dahl, Trevor Story and Ian Desmond homered during a seven-run bottom of the fifth inning. Pinch-hitter Drew Butera also went deep.

ARIZONA 7 – L.A. Dodgers 2… A.J. Pollock blasted a three-run homer and the Diamondbacks got solo shots from Socrates Brito and David Peralta in ripping the Dodgers. Zack Greinke (15-11) allowed two runs on eight hits over six innings.

CHI. CUBS 7 – Pittsburgh 6 (10 innings)… The Cubs finally outlasted the Pirates to punch their ticket into the postseason for the fourth straight year and maintain their half-game lead over second-place Milwaukee in the NL Central. Albert Almora singled home pinch-runner Terrence Gore with the winning run in the bottom of the 10th inning. Jason Heyward homered with a runner aboard in the first.

Milwaukee 2 – ST. LOUIS 1… The Brewers edged the Cardinals to clinch their first trip to the playoffs since 2011. Jhoulys Chacin (15-8) limited St. Louis to a run on one hit over five innings. Travis Shaw knocked in both Milwaukee runs with a pair of singles.

WASHINGTON 9 – Miami 3… Victor Robles went 4-for-5 with a three-run homer and two-run double in leading the Nationals past the Marlins. Spencer Kieboom singled twice and drove in three runs.

N.Y. METS 3 – Atlanta 0… Dominic Smith singled home a run as the Mets breezed past the Braves. Jacob deGrom (10-9) pitched two-hit ball over eight innings and among his 10 strikeouts was the 1,000th of his career. He finished the season with a 1.70 ERA.

San Diego 3 – SAN FRANCISCO 2… Travis Jankowski went 3-for-4 with a solo homer as the Padres edged the Giants. Seven San Diego pitchers kept San Francisco at bay.

Oakland 9 – SEATTLE 3… Matt Olson unloaded a grand slam during a six-run top of the fifth inning that carried the Athletics past the Mariners. Khris Davis added his major league-leading 47th homer in the seventh. Marcus Semien and Chad Pinder also went deep.

BOSTON 19 – Baltimore 3… The Red Sox opened with a five-run bottom of the first inning and never looked back in crushing the Orioles and handing them their franchise-record 109th loss. Rafael Devers went 4-for-5 with a pair of homers and five RBIs. Boston also got homers from J.D. Martinez, Xavier Bogaerts and Blake Swihart.

Baltimore 10 – BOSTON 3… The Orioles cruised past the Red Sox to salvage a split of the twinbill. Trey Mancini stroked a tie-breaking two-run single and came around to score on Renato Nunez’s single in the top of the seventh inning.

TORONTO 3 – Houston 1… Randal Grichuk hit a two-run homer and rookie Reese McGuire added a solo shot as the Blue Jays topped the AL West-champion Astros despite managing only three hits.

TAMPA BAY 8 – N.Y. Yankees 7… Willy Adames had a couple of hits and drove in a pair of runs as the Rays outslugged the Yankees. Tommy Pham homered with the bases empty.

Cleveland 10 – CHI. WHITE SOX 2… Edwin Encarnacion went 3-for-4 with a solo homer and four RBIs in leading the Indians in their romp over the White Sox. Shane Bieber (11-5) allowed just two hits over six shutout innings.

MINNESOTA 11 – Detroit 4… Johnny Field homered twice and knocked in three runs as the Twins rolled past the Tigers. Jorge Polanco legged out a bases-clearing triple.

L.A. ANGELS 3 – Texas 2… Shohei Ohtoni connected for a tie-breaking solo homer in the bottom of the eighth inning and the Angels completed a sweep of the Rangers. Taylor Ward also circled the bases for L.A.

Kansas City 6 – CINCINNATI 1… Rookie Heath Fillmyer held the Reds to a run on four hits over 7-1/3 innings as the Royals downed the Reds. Alex Gordon had a couple of hits, including a solo homer.
