AUDIO OF KHASHOGGI’S MURDER… Turkish state media released audio yesterday of the alleged murder of Washington Post contributor Jamal Khashoggi at the Saudi consulate in Istanbul on October 2. The New York Times reported that the audio captures hit men who severed Khashoggi’s fingers before decapitated and dismembered him over his reporting about the Saudi Arabian government. Saudi officials continue to deny involvement in Khashoggi’s death.

TREASURY DEPARTMENT OFFICIALS CHARGED OVER LEAKS… A Treasury Department official has been charged with leaking confidential documents to a BuzzFeed reporter. Natalie May Edwards, a senior adviser in the Treasury Department’s Financial Crimes Enforcement Network, was arrested on Tuesday and charged with unauthorized disclosure of suspicious activity reports and with conspiracy. Prosecutors say the documents she leaked are related to Paul Manafort and other targets of the investigation into Russia’s interference in the 2016 election. Both charges carry a maximum sentence of five years in prison.

TRUMP APPOINTEE TO OVERSEE INTERIOR DEPARTMENT INVESTIGATION… A woman whom President Trump appointed as assistant Department of Housing and Urban Development secretary will take over as the acting inspector general at the Department of the Interior. Suzanne Israel Tufts will reportedly remain a HUD employee during her detail as IG. She will be tasked with overseeing investigations of Interior Department Secretary Ryan Zinke, including his involvement in a business deal with the chairman of Halliburton.

MEDAL OF HONOR RECIPIENT… A former U.S. Marine Corps sergeant major who saved more than a dozen fellow Marines during the Vietnam War was awarded the Medal of Honor yesterday. Retired Sergeant Major John L. Canley was presented with the nation’s highest military honor in the East Room of the White House for his actions during the Battle of Hue in February 1968. Canley helped carry injured Marines to safety despite his own injuries. He was credited with saving a total of 20 Marines.

MORE FLOODING IN TEXAS… Severe flooding continued throughout south and central Texas. More flooding was expected to continue into last night after the National Weather Service issued a flash flood watch for Travis, Williamson, Hays, Comal and Bexar counties. As much as 4 inches fell in isolated areas, with the heaviest rain expected today into tonight. A body found yesterday at a low-water crossing raised the death toll from recent floods to two.

ENTERTAINMENT
GARTH BROOKS PLANS STADIUM TOUR… Garth Brooks has announced plans for a North American stadium tour. The announcement comes in advance of his concert this weekend at Notre Dame Stadium in Indiana. The only two tour stops disclosed thus far are in Glendale, Arizona, and St. Louis, Missouri.

RELEASE OF BRUCE WILLIS FILM CANCELED… This month’s scheduled release of a movie featuring Bruce Willis has been canceled due to unforeseen legal reasons. The cancellation was announced after one of the film’s stars, Chinese actress Fan Bingbing, was convicted of tax evasion. The film, which also starred Adrien Brody, is a World War II thriller.

NLCS GAME 5
L.A. DODGERS 5 – Milwaukee 2… Clayton Kershaw held the Brewers to a run on three hits over seven innings and the Dodgers took a 3-2 lead in the NL Championship Series. Justin Turner and Yasiel Puig both had two hits and drove in a run. The series shifts to Milwaukee for tomorrow’s Game 6. The Dodgers are expected to start Hyun-Jin Ryu while Wade Miley takes the mound for the Brewers. First pitch is set for 8:39 p.m. Eastern and the game airs on FS1.

ALCS GAME 4
Boston 8 – HOUSTON 6… Leftfielder Andrew Benintendi’s diving catch of an Alex Bregman drive with the bases loaded and two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning preserved the Red Sox win over the Astros and gave them a 3-1 lead in the series. Jackie Bradley Jr. struck the big blow with a go-ahead two-run homer. Rafael Devers stroked a two-run single. Xander Bogaerts drove in two runs with a single and a double. The series remains in Houston for tonight’s Game 5. First pitch is set for 8:09 p.m. Eastern and the game airs on TBS. Neither team has announced a starter.

NBA REGULAR-SEASON OPENERS
DETROIT 103 – Brooklyn 100… The Pistons held off the Nets to make a winner of Ben Casey in his debut as coach. Blake Griffin scored 26 points. Andre Drummond powered his way to 24 points and 20 rebounds.

Milwaukee 113 – CHARLOTTE 112… The Bucks built a 13-point halftime lead and held on to edge the Hornets. Giannis Antetokounmpo knocked down the tying and go-ahead free throws with 23 seconds remaining and finished with 25 points and 18 boards. Kemba Walker’s 41 points weren’t enough for Charlotte.

INDIANA 111 – Memphis 83… The Pacers jumped out to a double-digit lead after the first quarter and never looked back in routing the Grizzlies. Boris Boganovic led a balanced scoring attack with 19 points.

ORLANDO 104 – Miami 101… The Magic used a 9-0 fourth-quarter run to get past the Heat. Aaron Gordon scored 26 points to lead six players in double figures.

TORONTO 116 – Cleveland 104… Kyle Lowrie scored 27 points as the Raptors outshot the Cavaliers. Kawhi Leonard had 24 points and 12 rebounds in his debut for Toronto.

NEW YORK 126 – Atlanta 107… The Knicks outscored the Hawks 49-25 in the second quarter and coasted to the victory. Tim Hardaway Jr. scored 31 points to lead all scorers. Enes Kanter added 16 points and 11 boards.

New Orleans 131 – HOUSTON 112… Anthony Davis powered his way to 32 points and 16 rebounds as the Pelicans surprised the Rockets. Nikola Mirotic finished with 30 points and 10 boards. Julius Randle delivered 25 points off the bench.

SAN ANTONIO 112 – Minnesota 108… DeMar DeRozan scored a game-high 28 points in his debut for the Spurs. LaMarcus Aldridge added 21 points and 19 rebounds.

Utah 123 – SACRAMENTO 117… The Jazz took command with a big second quarter and held off the Kings. Donovan Mitchell led the way with 24 points. Joe Ingles added 22 points.

Denver 107 – L.A. CLIPPERS 98… The Nuggets were too much down the stretch in beating the Clippers. Nikola Jokic scored 21 points and Gary Harris added 20. Paul Millsap finished with 11 points and 16 rebounds.

PHOENIX 121 – Dallas 100… Devin Booker made 12 of 19 field goals on his way to 35 points and the Suns pounded the Mavericks. Trevor Ariza tossed in 21 points. Rookie Deandre Ayton had 18 points and 10 boards.

WASHINGTON 4 – N.Y. Rangers 3 (OT)… Matt Niskanen netted the winning goal at 2:18 of overtime as the Capitals outlasted the Rangers. Alex Ovechkin scored a pair of goals in regulation.

MONTREAL 3 – St. Louis 2… Brendan Gallagher found the net with 11 seconds remaining to lift the Canadiens over the Blues. Mike Reilly had a goal and an assist.

CALGARY 5 – Boston 2… Michael Frolik netted a pair of goals as the Flames skated past the Bruins. Mikael Backlund and Michael Stone each had two assists.

ANAHEIM 4 – N.Y. Islanders 1… The Ducks got two goals from Ryan Kesler in downing the Islanders. Goalie John Gibson made 34 saves.
