U.S. REVOKES SAUDIS’ VISAS… Secretary of State Mike Pompeo announced yesterday that the U.S. is revoking visas of 21 identified suspects in the killing of Washington Post columnist Jamal Khashoggi. The Saudi kingdom has provided conflicting accounts of Khashoggi’s murder and most recently has claimed he was killed in a rogue operation after visiting the Saudi consulate in Istanbul, Turkey. President Trump has called Saudi Arabia’s response to the murder of journalist “the worst cover-up ever.”

TRUMP TO MEET WITH PUTIN… President Trump plans to meet with Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin in Paris next month. The meeting is arranged amid efforts by National Security Adviser John Bolton to withdraw the U.S. from the 1987 Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces treaty. Russia denies U.S. allegations that it has breached the treaty and warns that withdrawal is a “dangerous step.” In multiple recent interviews, Putin has boasted that U.S. global dominance is nearing its end after mistakes “typical of an empire.”

SIX CHILDREN DIE IN VIRAL OUTBREAK… A “severe” viral outbreak of adenovirus at a New Jersey rehabilitation facility is blamed for the death of six children and the sickening of 12 others. The facility houses pediatric and nursing home patients for short- and long-term care. According to the Centers for Disease Control, adenovirus is a family of “common viruses that cause a range of illness.”

SANDRA DAY O’CONNOR IN EARLY STAGES OF DEMENTIA… Sandra Day O’Connor, who became the first woman to serve on the Supreme Court when she was appointed by President Reagan in 1981, revealed yesterday that she has been diagnosed with dementia. The 88-year-old O’Connor retired in 2006 and says the diagnosis is prompting her to retire from public life.

WINNING NUMBERS DRAWN IN LOTTERY… Lottery officials say the winning numbers have been drawn for the record $1.6 billion Mega Millions jackpot, but didn’t specify whether there’s a winner. The estimated jackpot has been growing since July and is the largest lottery prize ever. If no tickets match yesterday’s numbers, lottery officials say the jackpot is expected to grow to an estimated $2 billion for Friday’s drawing.

ENTERTAINMENT
MEGYN KELLY APOLOGIZES FOR SUPPORTING BLACKFACE… Megyn Kelly apologized to her NBC colleagues yesterday for defending blackface during a segment of her show earlier in the day. During a discussion about blackface costumes with an all-white panel, Kelly denied they were racist. In her apology, Kelly said, “The history of blackface in our culture is abhorrent; the wounds too deep.”

TRACY CHAPMAN SUED NICKI MINAJ FOR COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT… Singer-songwriter Tracy Chapman is suing Nicki Minaj for copyright infringement. Minaj is accused of using the lyrics and melody of Chapman’s 1988 song “Baby Can I Hold You” on her unreleased “Queen” track “Sorry.” Chapman reportedly rejected several requests from Minaj’s team to license the song. Minaj and 10 other defendants are named in the suit.

MLB WORLD SERIES GAME 1
BOSTON 8 – L.A. Dodgers 4… The Red Sox put away the Dodgers in the opener of the 2018 World Series. Eduardo Nunez struck the big blow with a pinch-hit three-run homer in the bottom of the seventh inning. Anthony Benintendi went 4-for-5 with an RBI and three runs scored. J.D. Martinez singled, doubled and drove in two runs. The series remains in Boston for tonight’s Game 2. Hyun-Jin Ryu gets the start for L.A., while Boston will counter with David Price in a matchup of lefthanders. First pitch is scheduled for 8:09 p.m. Eastern and the game airs on Fox.

NBA SCORES
DETROIT 133 – Philadelphia 132 (OT)… Blake Griffin converted a three-point play with 1.8 seconds remaining to finish with a career-high 50 points and lift the Pistons over the 76ers. Griffin also had 14 rebounds. Reggie Jackson added 23 points.

NEW ORLEANS 116 – L.A. Clippers 109… Anthony Davis powered his way to 34 points and 13 boards and the Pelicans downed the Clippers to remain unbeaten after three games this season. Elfrid Payton added 20 points. Nikola Mirotic finished with 18 points and 12 boards.

DENVER 126 – Sacramento 112… Jamal Murray scored 14 of his team-high 19 points in the third quarter as the Nuggets breezed past the Kings. Nikola Jokic had 14 points and 12 rebounds. Eight players scored in double figures for Denver.

N.Y. RANGERS 5 – Florida 2… Mats Zuccarello and Mika Zibanejad scored two goals apiece as the Rangers skated past the Panthers. Zibanejad also assisted on two goals.

Boston 4 – OTTAWA 1… David Pastrnak scored a pair of goals and had two assists as the Bruins cruised past the Senators to snap their three-game skid. Patrice Bergeron added a goal and two assists. Goalie Tuukka Rask stopped 38 shots.

MONTREAL 3 – Calgary 2… Joe Petry and Jonathan Drouin each had a goal and an assist as the Canadiens edged the Flames. Max Domi assisted on two goals.

San Jose 5 – NASHVILLE 4… The Sharks erased a two-goal deficit on their way past the Predators. Brent Burns scored the decisive goal with 2:52 remaining and had two assists.

DALLAS 4 – Los Angeles 2… Jason Spezza and John Klingberg each had a goal and an assist as the Stars topped the Kings to end their three-game losing streak. Goalie Ben Bishop made 35 saves.

CHICAGO 3 – Anaheim 1… Patrick Kane netted a tie-breaking goal in the third period and Brandon Saad scored his second goal into an empty net as the Blackhawks dealt the Ducks their third straight loss.

Pittsburgh 6 – EDMONTON 5 (OT)… Sidney Crosby found the net at 2:12 with his second goal of the game and the Penguins outlasted the Oilers. Patric Hornqvist and Jamie Oleksiak added two goals apiece for Pittsburgh.
