TRUMP SIGNS GOLAN HEIGHTS DECLARATION… President Trump yesterday signed a proclamation that recognizes Israel’s sovereignty over the Golan Heights. The proclamation covers a disputed stretch of land that Israel seized from Syria during the Six-Day War in 1967. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu joined Trump at the Oval Office signing.

MICHAEL AVENATTI ARRESTED… High-profile attorney Michael Avenatti, who represented porn star Stormy Daniels in lawsuits she filed against President Trump over an alleged affair, was arrested yesterday on extortion, wire fraud and bank fraud charges. Avenatti is accused of threatening Nike with bad publicity if the company didn’t pay him as much as $25 million. He was also accused of embezzling a client’s money to pay his own expenses. Federal agents in New York took Avenatti into custody just minutes after he tweeted that a major high school/college basketball scandal perpetrated by Nike” had been uncovered.

SENATOR UDALL, REP. SERRANO WON’T SEEK RE-ELECTION… Two Democratic members of Congress announced yesterday that they won’t seek re-election in 2020. Second-term New Mexico Senator Tom Udall said he prefers to serve the public, without specifying how. 16-term New York Democratic Congressman José Serrano revealed that he is battling Parkinson’s disease and plans to retire.

NOT GUILTY PLEAS IN COLLEGE ADMISSIONS SCANDAL… A dozen people pleaded not guilty in Boston federal court yesterday to charges that they participated in the largest college admissions fraud scandal in the nation’s history. The 12 defendants are accused as part of a $25 million racketeering conspiracy that included fraudulent admissions exams and parents bribing coaches to secure spots for their children in elite universities as fake athletic prospects. Some 50 people, including actresses Lori Loughlin and Felicity Huffman, have been charged with participating in the scheme.

AUTO-THEFT STUDY RELEASED… A study by driving-tests.org has found that the car theft industry is costing auto drivers and insurers $6 billion a year. The study found that older Honda Civics are the most likely to be stolen but thieves have more recently taken a liking to Nissan Altimas. Alaska experienced a 40-percent rise in car thefts over the past year. The study used data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the FBI and the National Insurance Crime Bureau.

ENTERTAINMENT
APPLE UNVEILS STREAMING SERVICE… Jennifer Aniston, Steven Spielberg and Oprah Winfrey joined Apple yesterday in the unveiling of the company’s new TV streaming platform, Apple TV+. The platform will include shows from existing services, including Hulu and HBO. Apple also announced that it would be launching a credit card, gaming portal and enhanced news app.

ROCKER SCOTT WALKER DIES… Influential rocker Scott Walker has died at the age of 76, friends of his confirmed yesterday. Walker rose to fame as a teen idol in The Walker Brothers, a U.S.-base band that relocated to England and scored hits with “The Sun Ain’t Gonna Shine Anymore” and “Make It Easy On Yourself.” He went on to release experimental solo albums.

NBA SCORES
MEMPHIS 115 – Oklahoma City 103… All five starters scored in double figures as the Grizzlies cruised past the Thunder. Bruno Cuboclo led the way with 24 points and 11 rebounds. Jonas Valanciunas added 18 points and 14 boards. Delon Wright finished with 18 points and 13 assists.

ORLANDO 119 – Philadelphia 98… The Magic rallied past the 76ers in the second half. Nikola Vucevic had game-highs with 28 points and 11 rebounds. Evan Fournier added 24 points.

UTAH 125 – Phoenix 92 (OT)… Rudy Gobert scored a season-high 27 points and set the single-season NBA record with his 270th dunk as the Jazz routed the Suns. Gobert also brought down 10 boards. Derrick Favors and Ricky Rubio added 18 points apiece. Devin Booker’s 59 points weren’t enough for Phoenix.

PORTLAND 148 – Brooklyn 144 (2OT)… The Trail Blazers outlasted the Nets but not before losing Jusuf Nurkic after he suffered what looked to be a gruesome knee injury in the second overtime. Nurkic had 32 points and 16 boards before coming down awkwardly after a rebound attempt. Damian Lillard added 31 points for Portland.

TORONTO 7 – Florida 5… John Tavares notched the first four-goal game of his career in leading the Maple Leafs past the Panthers. Zach Hyman had a goal and two assists. Morgan Rielly and William Nylander both assisted on two goals.

NEW JERSEY 3 – Buffalo 1… Pavel Zacha netted a tie-breaking goal early in the third period and assisted on Miles Woods’ empty-netter as the Devils put away the Sabres. Goalie Corey Schneider made 45 saves.

Pittsburgh 5 – N.Y. RANGERS 2… The Penguins scored three unanswered goals in the second period on their way past the Rangers. Teddy Blueger scored twice. Matt Murray stopped 33 shots at goal.

TAMPA BAY 5 – Boston 4… The Lightning scored three unanswered goals in the third period to erase a two-goal deficit and upend the Bruins. Steven Stamkos scored two goals and assisted on two others. Tampa Bay became the fourth NHL team to win at least 59 games in a season and with five games remaining has a chance to surpass the NHL record of 62 wins, set by the 1995-96 Detroit Red Wings.

ST. LOUIS 3 – Vegas 1… Ryan O’Reilly netted a go-ahead goal late in the second period and Zach Sanford added a third-period goal as the Blues topped the Golden Knights. Sanford also had an assist. Goalie Jordan Binnington made 24 saves.

Nashville 1 – MINNESOTA 0… Juuse Saros stopped all 29 shots in his third shutout of the season and the Predators clipped the Wild. Ryan Johansen’s short-handed goal in the first period provided all the offense Minnesota needed.

Dallas 5 – WINNIPEG 2… Tyler Seguin and Radek Faska scored two goals apiece as the Stars skated past the Jets. Alexander Radulov set up two goals.

Los Angeles 3 – CALGARY 0… Jack Campbell got the start at goal and made 42 saves in his second shutout of the season as the Kings blanked the Flames. The Kings got goals from Jonny Brodzinski, Derek Forbort and Tyler Toffoli.

Detroit 3 – SAN JOSE 2… The Red Wings built a three-goal lead midway into the third period and held on to edge the Sharks. Dylan Larkin, Andreas Athanasiou and Christoffer Ehn lit the lamp. Jonathan Bernier stopped 39 shots.
