TRUMP SUES TO BLOCK SUBPOENA… President Trump and his private company have filed a lawsuit against House Oversight Committee Chairman Elijah Cummings to block a subpoena that seeks Trump’s financial records. The suit wants to prevent the accounting firm Mazars USA from releasing “statements of financial condition” and audits prepared for Trump and several of his businesses. The lawsuit charged that the Democrats have weaponized its committees since taking over the House of Representatives against the president. Cummings says the committee particularly wants to see financial information connected with Trump’s attempt to purchase the NFL’s Buffalo Bills.

HOUSE COMMITTEE SUBPOENAS McGAHN… The House Judiciary Committee has subpoenaed former White House Counsel Don McGahn to provide public testimony next month. Committee chairman Jerry Nadler, a New York Democrat, says McGahn is a critical witness to obstruction of justice allegations described in the Mueller report. The subpoena’s demands include documents related to former national security advisor Michael Flynn’s contacts with Sergey Kislyak, President Trump’s contacts with former FBI director James Comey and former attorney general Jeff Sessions’ recusal from the Mueller investigation.

SUPREME COURT TO DECIDE ON SEXUAL-ORIENTATION DISCRIMINATION… The Supreme Court announced yesterday that it will decide whether existing civil rights law bans discrimination in the workplace based on sexual orientation. Current federal law does not specifically categorize sexual orientation or gender identification as workplace discrimination. The federal Equal Employment Opportunity Commission ruled in 2015 that Title VII protects against LGBT discrimination in the workplace. The Justice Department in the Obama administration supported that decision.

MEASLES CASES NEARING RECORD… The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention revealed yesterday that 71 new measles cases were reported in the U.S. last week. The report raised the total number of cases this year to 626 and noted that the most ever recorded in a year was 667 in 2014. Of the 71 new cases, all but three were reported in New York City and nearby Rockland County.

MARKING TIRES RULED UNCONSTITUTIONAL… Marking tires to enforce parking time limits was ruled unconstitutional in four states yesterday by a federal court. The ruling stemmed from a legal challenge by a woman in Saginaw, Michigan, and set legal precedent in Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky and Tennessee. The 6th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals wrote that Saginaw failed to demonstrate in “law or logic” how marking cars justifies a warrantless search. According to the court, marking tires was a strategy to raise money.

WIZ KHALIFA TO TOUR… Rapper Wiz Khalifa has scheduled a new North American summer tour that will feature special guest French Montana. The 29-city tour kicks off on July 9 in Atlanta and ends August 15 in Boise. Other cities on the tour include Boston, Pittsburgh, Toronto, Chicago, Cleveland, Detroit, Dallas, Denver and San Diego.

LUKE PERRY’S FINAL ‘RIVERDALE’ EPISODE AIRS TOMORROW… Luke Perry’s final appearance in “Riverdale” will air tomorrow. The actor died last month at the age of 52. Perry played the character Fred since the series’ debut in January 2017.

N.Y. METS 5 – Philadelphia 1… Steven Matz (2-1) allowed just a run on three hits over six innings. Jeff McNeill hit a solo homer for the Mets.

Arizona 12 – PITTSBURGH 4… The Diamondbacks overcame a 4-1 deficit to rout the Pirates. David Peralta legged out a bases-clearing triple and Christian Walker hit a two-run homer during a seven-run top of the seventh inning.

ST. LOUIS 13 – Milwaukee 5… Dexter Fowler went 4-for-5 with a homer and four RBIs. Paul Goldschmidt also went deep for the Cardinals.

COLORADO 7 – Washington 5… Nolan Arenado’s 1000th career hit was a tie-breaking homer to lead off the bottom of the seventh inning. Tapia added a solo homer in the eighth for the Rockies. Mark Reynolds’ two-run shot tied the game in the fifth.

Chi. White Sox 12 – BALTIMORE 2… Jose Abreu homered and knocked in five runs for the White Sox. James McCann added a homer and four RBIs.

TAMPA BAY 6 – Kansas City 3… The Rays doubled up on the Royals to snap their four-game skid. Mike Zunino homered with a runner aboard. Yandy Diaz added a solo shot.

Minnesota 9 – HOUSTON 5… Jorge Polanco went 4-for-5 with a two-run homer and four RBIs as the Twins outslugged the Astros. Jason Castro also homered or Minnesota.

OAKLAND 6 – Texas 1… Chris Bassitt (1-0) pitched two-hit ball over five shutout innings. Stephen Piscotty opened the scoring with a solo homer in the bottom of the second inning.

N.Y. Yankees 4  – L.A. ANGELS 3 (14 innings)… Giovani Urshela singled home the go-ahead run in the top of the 14th inning and the Yankees held on to outlast the Angels. Both teams scored single runs in the 12th inning. Luke Voit smacked a solo homer for New York.

BOSTON – Detroit (ppd)… Rain in Boston forced postponement of yesterday’s Red Sox-Tigers game. It will be made up as part of a doubleheader today.

UTAH 107 – Houston 91… The Jazz pulled away in the fourth quarter to avoid being swept in the series. Donovan Mitchell led the way with 31 points. Ricky Rubio scored 18 points and dished off 11 assists.

CAROLINA 5 – Washington 2… The Hurricanes scored four straight goals to erase a 2-1 second-period deficit and force tomorrow night’s Game 7 in Washington. Jordan Staal and Dougie Hamilton both had a goal and an assist.

DALLAS 2 – Nashville 1 (OT)… John Klingberg scored the winning goal with 2:58 remaining as the Stars wrapped up the series in six games. Blake Comeau netted a tying goal in the second period. Goalie Ben Bishop made 48 saves. Dallas will take on St. Louis in the second round.
