DEMS MOVE TO HOLD KINE IN CONTEMPT… The House Oversight Committee is preparing to hold former White House official Carl Kline in contempt of Congress for failing to appear at a hearing on alleged lapses in White House security clearance procedures. Kline was in charge of the security-clearance process but is now employed at the Defense Department. He was instructed by the Trump administration to ignore a House subpoena and not appear at the hearing.

TRUMP SCHEDULES BRITAIN TRIP… President Trump is expected to visit Britain on June 3 to meet with Queen Elizabeth II and Prime Minister Theresa May. The trip will be part of a D-Day commemoration on its 75th anniversary. The White House said the visit will “reaffirm the steadfast and special relationship between the United States and the United Kingdom.”

TRUMP SKIPPING CORRESPONDENTS DINNER… President Trump has ordered administration officials to boycott the annual White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner. This year’s gala fundraiser, hosted by the White House Press Corps, is set for Saturday. Trump announced earlier this month that he would skip the dinner for the third straight year.

DRUG DISTRIBUTOR FACING FEDERAL CHARGES… The former head of a drug distributor is facing the first criminal charges against a drug company executive in response to the opioid crisis. An indictment unsealed yesterday accuses former Rochester Drug Co-Operative CEO Laurence Doud III with ordering subordinates to ignore red flags about certain pharmacy customers to maximize company revenues and double his pay between 2012 and 2016. The 75-year-old Doud surrendered to authorities in New York City and is awaiting arraignment on two counts of conspiracy.

POTUS POISED TO ALLOW CITIZENSHIP QUESTION… Supreme Court justices appeared to be leaning toward allowing the Trump administration to add a citizenship question to the 2020 census. During arguments yesterday, conservative justices indicated they believed Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross was within his right to add the question. The four liberal justices insisted that the addition of the question would reduce the number of respondents to the census.

ENTERTAINMENT
SMOLLETT’S ATTORNEYS TARGETED IN SUIT… The two brothers who were questioned by police in the alleged attack on Jussie Smollett have are suing two of the actor’s attorneys for defamation. The plaintiffs claim that the assault was “a hoax entirely conceived and directed by” Smollett. Attorneys, Mark Geragos and Tina Glandian are accused of knowingly making false statements about their role in the hoax “to distract from Mr. Smollett’s farce and to promote themselves” and their law firm.

PRINCE MEMOIR GETS RELEASE DATE… A version of Prince’s memoir will be released on October 29, publisher Penguin Random House has announced. The pop star committed to writing a book about his life prior to his 2016 death. “The Beautiful Ones” will reportedly combine Prince’s unfinished manuscript with never-before-seen photos, original scrapbooks and lyric sheets.

Arizona 2 – PITTSBURGH 1… Jarrod Dyson dived around catcher Francisco Cervelli’s tag with the decisive run in the top of the sixth inning. Luke Weaver (2-1) surrendered a run on six hits over 6-1/3 innings.

CINCINNATI 7 – Atlanta 6… Yasiel Puig connected for a two-run homer in the bottom of the first inning and added a sacrifice fly for the Reds. Tucker Barnhart also went deep.

N.Y. METS 9 – Philadelphia 0… Zack Wheeler (2-2) struck out 11 over seven innings and belted his first career homer. Todd Frazier also homered.

ST. LOUIS 4 – Milwaukee 3… Paul DeJong led off the bottom of the eighth inning with a tie-breaking homer. Yadier Molina went 3-for-4 with two RBIs.

CHI. CUBS 7 – L.A. Dodgers 2… The Cubs jumped out to a 6-0 lead after two innings and coasted past the Dodgers. Anthony Rizzo and Javier Baez homered.

Washington 6 – COLORADO 3… Victor Robles lined a bases-clearing double during a four-run top of the third inning and the Nationals went on to double up on the Rockies. Patrick Corbin (2-0) allowed two runs on five hits over six innings.

AL SCORES
Detroit 7 – BOSTON 4… Grayson Greiner homered and singled home a run to lead the Tigers past the Red Sox in the opener of a doubleheader. Ronny Rodriguez also went deep.

Detroit 4 – BOSTON 2… Brandon Dixon doubled home three runs in the top of the fourth inning and the Tigers completed a doubleheader sweep. Spencer Turnbull allowed just three hits over five scoreless innings.

BALTIMORE 9 – Chi. White Sox 1… The Orioles got home runs from Renato Nunez, Chris Davis, Dwight Smith Jr. and Joey Rickard in overpowering the White Sox. Andrew Cashner (4-1) gave up a run on five hits over seven innings.

TAMPA BAY 5 – Kansas City 2… Mike Zunino homered for the second straight day and the Rays handed the Royals their fifth straight loss.

HOUSTON 10 – Minnesota 4… The Astros erased an early 3-0 deficit to blow away the Twins. Jose Altuve blasted a three-run homer. Alex Bregman knocked in three runs.

N.Y. Yankees 7 – L.A. ANGELS 5… Luke Voit hit a pair of solo homers and Mike Ford ripped a two-run shot. Brett Gardner went 4-for-5 and scored a run.

OAKLAND 11 – Texas 5… Marcus Semien, Ramon Laureano and Josh Phegley drove in two runs apiece for the Athletics. Matt Chapman smacked a solo blast.

INTERLEAGUE SCORES
Miami 3 – CLEVELAND 1… Jorge Alfaro hit a leadoff homer as the Marlins scored all three runs in the top of the fifth inning to down the Indians. Pablo Lopez pitched two-hit ball over 6-1/3 shutout innings.

San Francisco 7 – TORONTO 6… Joe Panik, Evan Longoria, Brandon Belt and Pablo Sandoval all hit home runs as the Giants powered their way past the Blue Jays.

SAN DIEGO 6 – Seattle 3… Franmil Reyes homered twice and knocked in three runs for the Padres. Austin Hedges homered with a runner aboard.

TORONTO 115 – Orlando 96… The Raptors cruised past the Magic in Game 5 to wrap up the series. They move on to face Philadelphia in the second round. Kawhi Leonard led the way with 27 points. Pascal Siakam added 24 points.

PHILADELPHIA 122 – Brooklyn 100… The 76ers built a 27-point halftime lead and coasted past the Nets to take the series in five games. Joel Embiid had game-highs with 23 points and 13 rebounds. Five other players scored in double figures for Philadelphia.

DENVER 108 – San Antonio 90… They Nuggets thrashed the Spurs to go up 3-2 in the series. Seven players scored in double figures led by Jamal Murray’s 23 points. Nikola Jokic had 16 points and 11 boards.

PORTLAND 118 – Oklahoma City 115… Damian Lillard scored a game-winning three-pointer from 37 feet out with less than a second remaining and finished with 50 points as the Trail Blazers eliminated the Thunder in Game 5. Portland awaits the winner of the Denver-San Antonio series in the second round. Enes Kanter had 13 points and as many rebounds for the Blazers.

NHL STANLEY CUP PLAYOFFS SCORES (first round)…
BOSTON 5 – Toronto 1… The Bruins skated past the Maple Leafs in Game 7 to wrap up the series. Joakim Nordstrom and Sean Kuraly each had a goal and an assist. Goalie Tuukka Rask made 32 saves. Boston faces Columbus in the second round.

SAN JOSE 5 – Vegas 4 (OT)… The Sharks came from three goals down in the third period to outlast the Golden Knights and advance to take on Colorado in the second round. Barclay Goodrow netted the winning goal with 1:41 left in overtime. San Jose scored four power-play goals in the third period after Vegas’ Cody Eakin was ejected for a high stick that sent the Sharks’ Joe Pavelski off the ice. Vegas’ Jonathan Marchessault scored with 47 seconds left in regulation to force the extra period.
