HOUSE COMMITTEE VOTES TO HOLD BARR IN CONTEMPT… The House Judiciary Committee voted yesterday to hold Attorney General William Barr in contempt of Congress. After passing by a 24-16 party-line vote, the resolution is heading to the full House for a vote that could come later this month. Committee chairman Jerry Nadler, a New York Democrat, called for the vote after Barr refused to turn over an unredacted version of the Mueller report.

TRUMP DECLARES EXECUTIVE PRIVILEGE OVER MUELLER REPORT… President Trump declared yesterday that he is claiming executive privilege over the entire Mueller Report. The Justice Department informed House Judiciary Committee chairman Jerry Nadler that the president made the decision in response to the committee’s move to vote on a resolution that would hold Attorney General William Barr on contempt of court charges. Trump’s decision shields all of the material Nadler requested on behalf of the committee.

NEW YORK VOTES TO OBTAIN TRUMP TAX RETURNS… New York’s state Senate targeted President Trump yesterday in a pair of bills that passed overwhelmingly. The first bill eliminates a loophole that gives individuals who have been pardoned at a federal level indemnity from New York State prosecutors. The other bill grants the House Ways and Means, the Senate Finance or the Joint Committee on Taxation committees access to President Trump’s state tax returns. The legislation, which didn’t mention Trump by name, is now headed to the state assembly.

SENATE PANEL SUBPOENAS DONALD TRUMP JR… The Republican-led Senate Intelligence Committee has subpoenaed Donald Trump Jr.for questioning about his claim to have just limited knowledge of an ultimately aborted plan to build a Trump Tower in Moscow. Questions arose over Trump Jr.’s previous testimony earlier this year after President Trump’s former personal lawyer, Michael Cohen, testified that he had briefed Trump Jr. repeatedly about the effort to develop a Trump Tower in Russia. Cohen told a House committee that he had met with both Donald Trump Jr. and his sister, Ivanka Trump, “approximately 10” times to brief them about the Trump Tower plan.

WHITE HOUSE ADDS IRAN SANCTIONS… The White House has announced new sanctions on Iran’s steel, aluminum, copper and iron sectors. The announcement followed Iran’s threat to enrich its uranium stockpile close to weapon-grade levels in 60 days if global powers did not renegotiate the terms of the 2015 nuclear deal. The U.S. pulled out of the deal last year.

SIX DEAD IN NEW YORK CITY APARTMENT FIRE… A fire at a New York City apartment early yesterday killed six family members, including four children. Investigators say it appears the blaze started in the kitchen of a fifth-story apartment in Harlem. Children who perished were aged 4 to 11. A 45-year-old woman and her 33-year-old stepson were among the dead.

SHOWTIME RENEWS ‘BILLIONS’… Showtime announced yesterday that it is renewing the drama “Billions” for a fifth season. The fourth season finale is scheduled for June 9. The series stars Paul Giamatti, Damian Lewis, Maggie Siff and Malin Akerman in the story about two powerful former enemies who form an alliance to destroy their adversaries.

CHADWICK BOSEMAN LANDS NEXT ROLE… Chadwick Boseman has agreed to play an African man who becomes a samurai in 16th century Japan. The film’s main character, “Yasuke,” was a native of Portuguese Mozambique who arrived in Japan in 1579 as a slave. He befriended a warlord and became a samurai. Boseman will also serve as a producer on the film.

MILWAUKEE 7 – Washington 3… Christian Yelich belted his 16th homer and Mike Moustakas added a two-run blast for the Brewers. Orlando Arcia lined a two-run single.

Philadelphia 5 – ST. LOUIS 0… Phillies starter Jerad Eickhoff pitched three-hit ball over eight innings. Cesar Hernandez homered and knocked in three runs.

SAN DIEGO 3 – N.Y. Mets 2… Hunter Renfroe smacked a tie-breaking homer in the bottom of the seventh inning and the Padres hung on to beat the Mets. Eric Hosmer also went deep.

CHI. CUBS 3 – Miami 2 (11 innings)… Jason Heyward led off the bottom of the 11th inning with a game-winning homer as the Cubs outlasted the Marlins.

L.A. DODGERS 9 – Atlanta 4… Enrique Hernandez hit a two-run homer for the Dodgers. Max Muncy homered and singled home a run. Justin Turner also went deep.

COLORADO – San Francisco (ppd)… Rain in Denver forced postponement of last night’s Rockies-Giants game. It has been rescheduled for July 15.

CLEVELAND 5 – Chi. White Sox 3... Jose Ramirez belted a walkoff two-run homer with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning and the Indians snapped their three-game skid.

Seattle 10 – N.Y. YANKEES 1… Ryon Healy had four extra-base hits, including a homer, and drove in four runs as the Mariners pounded the Yankees. Edwin Encarnacion and Mitch Hanigar also homered for Seattle. Yusei Kikuchi (2-1) allowed a run on three hits over 7-2/3 innings.

Boston 2 – BALTIMORE 1 (12 innings)… Anthony Benintendi’s homer in the top of the 12th inning lifted the Red Sox over the Orioles. Mookie Betts opened the scoring with a third-inning homer.

Minnesota 9 – TORONTO 1… Jorge Polanco went 5-for-5 with a two-run homer to lead the Twins past the Blue Jays. C.J. Cron, Jonathan Schoop and Eddie Rosario also homered with a runner aboard. Kyle Gibson (3-1) gave up a run on two hits over six innings snd struck out 11.

DETROIT 10 – L.A. Angels 3… Ronny Rodriguez went 3-for-4 with four RBIs for the Tigers. JaCoby Jones hit a two-run homer. Matthew Boyd (4-2) surrendered a run on three hits over six innings.

HOUSTON 9 – Kansas City 0… Michael Brantley homered twice and knocked in three runs for the Astros. George Springer and Carlos Correa also circled the bases. Starter Brad Peacock (3-2) tossed three-hit ball over seven innings. Reliever Josh James completed the shutout.

Texas 9 – PITTSBURGH 6… Hunter Pence came through with a game-tying pinch-hit grand slam in the top of the eighth inning and Rougned Odor added a two-run shot during a three-run ninth to power the Rangers past the Pirates. Joey Votto homered with a runner aboard.

Arizona 3 – TAMPA BAY 2 (13 innings)… Wilmer Flores singled home Eduardo Escobar with a tying run in the top of the 13th inning and the Diamondbacks made it stand in outlasting the Rays.

OAKLAND 5 – Cincinnati 4 (13 innings)… Stephen Piscotty’s homer to lead off the bottom of the 13th inning sent the Athletics past the Reds. Jurickson Profar homered with a runner aboard in the second for Oakland.

GOLDEN STATE 104 – Houston 99… The Warriors fought off the Rockets to take a 3-2 lead in the series. Klay Thompson led the way with 27 points. Stephen Curry dropped in 25 points. Kevin Durant added 22 points before leaving with a strained calf late in the third quarter.

Toronto is at Philadelphia for Game 6 with the Raptors leading 3-2…
Portland hosts Denver for Game 6 with the Nuggets leading 3-2

SAN JOSE 3 – Colorado 2… The Sharks held off the Avalanche in Game 7 and advance to take on St. Louis in the Western Conference final. First-period goals by Joe Pavelski and Tomas Hertl staked San Jose to an early lead. Joonas Donskoi’s second-period goal proved to be the difference. Goalie Martin Jones made 29 saves.

Carolina is at Boston for Game 1 in the Eastern Conference final
