BANK CEO CHARGED WITH BRIBERY IN TRUMP ADMINISTRATION BID… Federal prosecutors in New York yesterday indicted the head of a Chicago-based bank on a financial bribery charge for his alleged involvement in a scheme to land a top post in the Trump administration. Stephen Calk, the former chairman and CEO of Federal Savings Bank, is accused of approving high-risk loans to President Trump’s former campaign chairman Paul Manafort in exchange for a senior federal post, such as Army secretary. The 54-year-old Calk was named to a Trump campaign economic advisory committee. If convicted, he faces a maximum prison term of 30 years.

FARMER AID PACKAGE UNVEILED… Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue yesterday unveiled a $16 billion aid program for American farmers to help offset the effects of Chinese tariffs. The aid package will be funded by tariffs collected on Chinese imports, though the money comes from companies that import goods into the U.S. Soybean farmers have been particularly hard-hit as sales to China have fallen by more than 80 percent in the past year after China began buying soybeans from Brazil and Argentina.

JUSTICE DEPARTMENT FILES MORE CHARGES AGAINST ASSANGE… The Justice Department has filed 17 new charges against Wikileaks co-founder Julian Assange. The charges include violating the Espionage Act by publishing classified military and diplomatic documents in 2010. He was charged last month with one count of conspiring with ex-intelligence analyst Chelsea Manning to gain access to the Pentagon network. The 47-year-old Assange is facing extradition from the UK, where he is currently serving a 50-week jail sentence for jumping bail. In 2012, he sought asylum in the Ecuadorean embassy in London while facing sexual assault allegations in Sweden. Assange was arrested on April 11 after Ecuador withdrew his asylum.

AT LEAST THREE KILLED IN MISSOURI TORNADO… Authorities in Missouri say at least three people were killed early yesterday when a powerful tornado touched down near Jefferson City. Rescues crews continue to search for residents trapped inside their homes. At least 20 injuries were reported in Jefferson City and the Carl Junction area.

EXECUTION IN FLORIDA… A 65-year-old man convicted of kidnapping, sexually assaulting and killing eight women in 1984 was executed in Florida yesterday. Robert Long allegedly attacked his victims after answering for-sale ads in local newspapers. Prosecutors labeled Long the “Classified Ad Rapist” and say he used the tactic to rape dozens of women in California and Florida. Court records indicated he has confessed to killing nine women.

HAYDEN PANETTIERE’S BOYFRIEND ARRAIGNED… Hayden Panettiere‘s boyfriend Brian Hickerson was arraigned in Los Angeles Superior Court yesterday on a felony domestic violence charge. He was arrested earlier this month for allegedly attacking the actress after a night of drinking. Hickerson faces up to four years in prison if convicted.

IN THEATERS… In “Aladdin,” a kindhearted street urchin and a power-hungry Grand Vizier vie for a magic lamp that has the power to make their deepest wishes come true. Will Smith and Mena Massoud star in the PG film… “Booksmart” centers on two academic superstars and best friends who try to cram four years of fun into one ON the eve of their high school graduation once they realize they should have worked less and played more. The R-rated comedy stars Kaitlyn Dever and Beanie Feldstein… The sci-fi film “Brightburn” tells the story about a child from another world who crashes on Earth and threatens mankind. Elizabeth Banks and David Denman star in the R-rated film.

N.Y. METS 6 – Washington 4… Carlos Gomez belted a three-run homer in the bottom of the eighth inning to power the Mets past the Nationals.

PITTSBURGH 14 – Colorado 6… Josh Bell, Bryan Reynolds and Starling Marte homered during a six-run bottom of the seventh inning. Gregory Polanco also homered for the Pirates.

Philadelphia 9 – CHI. CUBS 7… The Phillies jumped out to a 7-0 lead after 3-1/2 innings and held off the Cubs. J.T. Realmuto and Jean Segura homered. Andrew McCutchen had a couple of hits and drove in a pair of runs.

Atlanta 5 – SAN FRANCISCO 4 (13 innings)… Austin Reilly tied the game with a two-run homer in the top of the eighth inning and singled home the decisive run in the 13th. Tyler Flowers also homered for Atlanta.

N.Y. Yankees 6 – BALTIMORE 5… Aaron Hicks drew a bases-loaded walk in the top of the ninth inning to force home Gleyber Torres with a go-ahead run and the Yankees made it stand in beating the Orioles. Luke Voit and Clint Frazier homered for New York.

Boston 8 – TORONTO 2… Steve Pearce singled home a run and blasted a two-run homer as the Red Sox cruised past the Blue Jays. Ryan Weber (1-0) allowed a run on three hits over six innings.

Tampa Bay 7 – CLEVELAND 2… The Rays got solo homers from Tommy Pham, Avisail Garcia and Willy Adames along with a three-run inside-the-parker from Kevin Kermaier in cruising past the Indians. Ryan Yarbrough gave up two runs on four hits over 7-1/3 innings.

Minnesota 16 – L.A. ANGELS 7… The Twins matched a franchise record by banging eight home runs in the thrashing of the Angels. Miguel Sano and Jonathan Schoop each homered twice. Jorge Polanco, C.J. Cron, Max Kepler and Eddie Rosario also connected.

Chi. White Sox 4 – HOUSTON 0… White Sox starter Lucas Giolito (6-1) tossed a four-hitter in his first career shutout. Eloy Jimenez homered for the third time in two games.

INTERLEAGUE SCORES
Miami 5 – DETROIT 2… The Marlins came alive to score all five runs in the top of the ninth inning and upend the Tigers. Garrett Cooper delivered the big blow with a grand slam.
