9 DEAD, 27 INJURED IN DAYTON SHOOTINGS… Authorities in Dayton, Ohio, say nine people died and another 27 were injured in the mass shooting near a bar early yesterday. The 24-year-old suspect was among the dead. Also found near the bar were the bodies of the shooter’s sister and her boyfriend. The shooter was reportedly wearing body armor as he entered a bar and opened fire with a .223-caliber high-capacity magazine rifle.

EL PASO SHOOTING SUSPECT FACING CAPITAL MURDER CHARGES… Prosecutors in El Paso County, Texas, say they’ll seek the death penalty for the suspect in Saturday’s shootings killed 20 people dead at a Walmart Supercenter. John Bash, the U.S. Attorney for Western District of Texas, plans to pursue federal hate crime, domestic terrorism and federal firearm charges separately from the state charges. The suspect was being held in El Paso County’s downtown jail after being booked on capital murder charges.

DEMS CALL FOR STRICTER GUN LAWS… Democratic presidential candidates are calling for stricter gun laws following the two mass shootings that left 29 people dead in El Paso and Dayton over the weekend. U.S. Senator Cory Booker was among politicians who blamed President Trump’s divisive rhetoric and white supremacist leanings for the violence. White House officials say the blame is on the “sick” individuals who carried out the shootings.

8CHAN CREATOR CALLS OR SHUTDOWN… The creator of the anonymous message board utilized by numerous mass shooters is calling for the site to be shut down. 8chan creator Frederick Brennan, who no longer runs the company, calls the site “a complete negative to everybody except the users that are there.” So far this year, three mass shooters all announced their plans in advance on 8chan.

MEXICO THREATENS LEGAL ACTION OVER SHOOTINGS… Mexico has threatened to take legal action against the U.S. for failing to protect its citizens after this weekend’s mass shooting in El Paso. Of the 20 people fatally shot Saturday in the border city, at least three were Mexican citizens and at least nine were Mexican nationals. Mexico’s Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard called Saturday’s shootings an “act of barbarism.”

… Rapper NF’s new release, ”The Search,” sold 130,000 copies to top the Billboard 200 albums chart. Chance the Rapper’s “The Big Day,” opened in second place on sales fo 108,000 units. Ed Sheeran’s “Collaborations Project” dropped into third place after selling 58,000 copies. Billie Eilish’s “When We Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?” fell to fourth place with 47,000 units sold. Chris Brown’s “Indigo” capped the top five after selling 40,000 copies.

WEEKEND BOX OFFICE… “Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw” took in $60.8 million to debut atop the weekend box office. Last week’s champ, “The Lion King” slipped into second place with $38.2 million. “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” dropped to third place after taking in $20 million. “Spider-Man: Far from Home” finished fourth with $7.7 million. “Toy Story 4” made $7.1 million to finish at No. 5.

Cincinnati 6 – ATLANTA 4 (10 innings)… The Reds recovered to outlast the Braves after blowing a two-run ninth-inning lead. Tucker Barnhart blasted a three-run homer in the top of the 10th.

N.Y. Mets 13 – PITTSBURGH 2… Michael Conforto and J.D. Davis homered in the top of the first inning to stake the Mets to a 3-0 lead and they never looked back in their romp over the Pirates. Jeff McNeil added a two-run blast. Todd Frazier drove in three runs with a pair of singles. Noah Syndergaard (8-5) gave up a run on three hits over seven innings.

CHI. CUBS 7 – Milwaukee 2… Jason Heyward homered, tripled and knocked in three runs for the Cubs. Kyle Schwarber also went deep. Yu Darvish (4-5) gave up a run on five hits over five innings.

COLORADO 6 – San Francisco 2… Nolan Arenado homered twice and drove in four runs in leading the Rockies past the Giants. Trevor Story also went deep. Kyle Freeland (3-9) allowed two runs on five hits over five innings.

ARIZONA 7 – Washington 5… Adam Jones stroked a pair of run-scoring doubles and delivered a tie-breaking two-run single in the bottom of the seventh inning to lead the Diamondbacks past the Nationals. Ketel Marte smacked a solo homer.

L.A. DODGERS 11 – San Diego 10… The Dodgers erased 6-3 and 10-7 deficits on their way past the Padres. Max Muncy homered with the bases empty and hit a game-winning two-run double in the bottom of the ninth inning. Russell Martin and A.J. Pollock also circled the bases for L.A.

BALTIMORE 6 – Toronto 5… Trey Mancini had a couple of hits, including a two-run double, as the Orioles edged the Blue Jays. Jace Peterson singled home a run.

CLEVELAND 6 – L.A. Angels 2… Jason Kipnis homered and lined a two-run single for the Indians. Francisco Lindor homered and lifted a sacrifice fly. Oscar Mercado also homered.

HOUSTON 3 – Seattle 1… Justin Verlander (15-4) held the Mariners to a run on three hits and struck out 10 over six innings. Carlos Correa singled home a run. Yordan Alvarez and Josh Reddick lifted sacrifice flies.

MINNESOTA 3 – Kansas City 0… Devin Smeltzer (1-1) pitched two-hit ball over six innings and three relievers did the rest in the Twins’ blanking of the Royals. Eddie Rosario lifted a sacrifice fly and homered. Jason Castro also went deep.

TEXAS 9 – Detroit 4… Danny Santana blasted a two-run homer for the Rangers. Willie Calhoun legged out a two-run triple. Shin-Soo Choo went 3-for-3 with an RBI double.

N.Y. YANKEES 7 – Boston 4… Gio Urshela’s two-run homer sparked a six-run bottom of the third inning that carried the Yankees past the Red Sox. Mike Tauchman’s two-run single capped the uprising. Aaron Judge also homered for New York.

Chi. White Sox 10 – PHILADELPHIA 5… Leury Garcia unloaded a grand slam to cap a five-run top of the second inning and the White Sox went on to double up on the Phillies. Eloy Jimenez belted a three-run homer and Tim Anderson added a solo shot.

TAMPA BAY 7 – Miami 2… Michael Broseeau went 3-for-4 with an RBI single and solo homer for the Rays. Avisail Garcia stroked a two-run double. Jesus Aguilar had a couple of hits and drove in a pair of runs.

OAKLAND 4 – St. Louis 2… Dustin Garneau lined a two-run double and Jonathan Profar homered as the Athletics topped the Cardinals. Tanner Roark (7-7) surrendered a run on four hits over five innings.
