TRUMP MEETS WITH SHOOTING VICTIMS… President Trump met yesterday with victims and first responders from last weekend’s mass shootings in El Paso and Dayton. The president was greeted at both locations by protesters who accused him of inflaming tensions with anti-immigrant and racially charged rhetoric. Demonstrators also called for a national debate on sun safety.

LESLIE WEXNER ACCUSES EPSTEIN OF MISAPPROPRIATING MONEY... Billionaire Leslie Wexner claims his former financial manager, Jeffrey Epstein, “misappropriated” more than $46 million worth of investments. Wexler says the missing money was discovered in 2007 as he was ending his business relationship with Epstein. Epstein was arrested last month in New York for allegedly sex trafficking dozens of minors.

HOUSE PANEL WANTS TO HEAR FROM McGAHN… The House Judiciary Committee yesterday asked a federal judge to force former White House counsel Don McGahn to testify about any evidence of obstruction of justice by President Trump. The committee wants to ask McGahn what he knows about Trump’s alleged obstruction of former special counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia investigation. McGahn defied a subpoena instructing him to testify, reportedly under orders from Trump.

IMMIGRATION RAIDS LEAD TO 680 ARRESTS… Federal immigration officials arrested approximately 680 people during raids that targeted seven food-processing plants in Mississippi. Those arrested were believed to be working without permits. The raids were conducted by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations. In addition to the arrests, agents also seized company business records.

PUERTO RICO SWEARS IN NEW GOVERNOR… Puerto Rico swore in Justice Secretary Wanda Vázquez as the territory’s new governor last night. Her swearing-in came just hours after the Supreme Court forced her predecessor, Pedro Pierluisi, to step down after five days on constitutional grounds. Vázquez has promised to stabilize Puerto Rico as it continues to recover from Hurricane Maria.

DANNY TREJO A HERO FOLLOWING CRASH… Actor Danny Trejo is being called a real-life hero for actions he took yesterday in helping rescue a baby trapped in an overturned car following an accident. Trejo says he crawled into the wrecked vehicle from one side but needed help from another bystander to undo the buckle. The two then pulled the baby safely from the wrecked car.

JOHN LEGEND, CHRISSY TIGEN TO APPEAR ON ‘THE SIMPSONS’… Married couple John Legend and Chrissy Teigen have signed on to guest-star as themselves on Season 31 of “The Simpsons.” Producers at Fox say the episode will feature Legend and Teigen being recruited by Marge for an education-based proposal. The two will voice themselves.

N.Y. METS 7 – Miami 2… The Mets made it 13 wins in 14 games with their defeat of the Marlins. Michael Conforto homered twice and drove in three runs. Pete Alonso hit a two-run homer. Jeff McNeil also homered with a runner aboard. Steven Matz (7-7) gave up two runs on seven hits over 6-2/3 innings.

L.A. DODGERS 2 – St. Louis 1… Russell Martin came through with a walkoff two-run single in the bottom of the ninth inning to send the Dodgers past the Cardinals.

Washington 4 – SAN FRANCISCO 1… Gerardo Parra’s three-run homer in the top of the third inning proved to be the difference in the Nationals’ win over the Giants. Joe Ross (2-3) pitched three-hit ball over six innings.

Milwaukee 8 – PITTSBURGH 3… Keston Hiura went 3-for-4 with a pair of homers and three RBIs. Eric Thames and pinch-hitter Lorenzo Cain produced two-run singles.

ARIZONA 6 – Philadelphia 1… Zac Gallen (2-3) allowed just one hit over five scoreless innings and the Diamondbacks cruised past the Phillies. Ketel Marte went 2-for-3 with an RBI.

CLEVELAND 2 – Texas 0… Jose Ramirez’s two-run homer in the bottom of the seventh inning provided all the offense the Indians needed to down the Rangers in the opener of a doubleheader.

CLEVELAND 5 – Texas 1… The Indians handled the Rangers to complete a sweep of the twinbill. Jose Ramirez drilled a solo homer. Jason Kipnis had two hits and an RBI.

Toronto 4 – TAMPA BAY 3… The Blue Jays got homers from Lourdes Gurriel Jr., Randal Grichuk and Derek Fisher and held off the Rays. Fisher’s blast was a two-run shot.

Chi. White Sox 8 – DETROIT 1… Ivan Nova (7-9) surrendered five hits over eight scoreless innings and the White Sox breezed past the Tigers. James McCann lined a two-run double and singled home a run. Ryan Cordell homered. Jose Abreu had a couple of hits and drove home two runs. Tim Anderson went 4-for-4 with three runs scored.

N.Y. Yankees 14 – BALTIMORE 2… The Yankees crushed the Orioles to extend their winning streak to eight games. Kyle Higashioka homered twice and drove home five runs. Gio Urshela drilled a pair of two-run homers. James Paxton (7-6) gave up a run on five hits over 6-2/3 innings.

Kansas City 4 – BOSTON 4 (suspended)… Rain in Boston forced the suspension of last night’s Royals-Red Sox game with the score tied at 4 after 9-1/2 innings. The game will resume on August 22.

INTERLEAGUE SCORES
Atlanta 11 – MINNESOTA 7… Ozzie Albies smacked a pair of solo homers for the Braves. Freddie Freeman and Ronald Acuña Jr. also circled the bases. Johan Camargo knocked in three runs.

HOUSTON 14 – Colorado 3… Yuli Gurriel had a couple of hits, including a three-run homer, and finished with eight RBIs in the Rockies’ romp over the Rockies. Jose Altuve also homered. Alex Bregman had a couple of hits and drove in three runs.

CHI. CUBS 10 – Oakland 1… Jose Quintana (10-7) held the Athletics to a run on two hits over seven innings. Ian Happ unloaded a grand slam. Kyle Schwarber and Victor Caratini also went deep.

SEATTLE 3 – San Diego 2… Mallex Smith ran home with a tie-breaking run in the bottom of the eighth inning on Daniel Vogelbach’s grounds and the Mariners hung on to edge the Padres. Kyle Seager homered with the bases empty for Seattle.
