6 PHILADELPHIA OFFICERS WOUNDED IN SHOOTINGS… Six officers were wounded yesterday after a gunman opened fire as they were serving a warrant in the north Philadelphia neighborhood of Nicetown. The shootings led to a standoff that lasted well into the night. The injured officers were being treated at hospitals and were expected to survive. Two officers who got barricaded inside the row house with the suspect were safely evacuated by the SWAT team.

MEXICO GOVERNMENT WANTS THE U.S. TO TAKE ACTION AGAINST SHOOTINGS… The government of Mexico yesterday is pressing its claim that the mass shooting in El Paso, Texas, earlier this month was an act of terrorism against Mexicans. Mexico wants the U.S. to take steps to prevent future killings. Eight of the 11 people killed in the shooting were Mexican citizens. Suspected shooter, Patrick Crusius, said in an online social media post that the El Paso attack “a response to the Hispanic invasion of Texas.”

HUNDREDS IN NEW YORK SUE OVER CHILD SEX CLAIMS…Hundreds of New Yorkers filed lawsuits yesterday after a new law enabled them to take action on child sex abuse claims previously barred by statute of limitations. The “lookback window” law that took effect yesterday was established by the state’s Child Victims Act. It provides one year for victims whose statute of limitations otherwise would have run out to file suits.

STOCKS TUMBLE AFTER TREASURE BOND DROPS TO RECORD LOW… All three major U.S. stock indexes yesterday over continuing concerns of an approaching recession. The concerns were stoked by the benchmark 30-year Treasury bond falling to a record low. The Dow Jones Industrial Average slid 800.49 points, or 3.05 percent, at the end of trading, while the S&P 500 fell 2.93 percent and the Nasdaq Composite dropped 3.02 percent.

HOUSE COMMITTEE SUBPOENAS 8CHAN OWNER… The House Homeland Security Committee yesterday subpoenaed the owner of the online messaging board 8chan to testify before Congress. The board has been linked to three mass shootings this year. House Homeland Security Committee Chairman Bennie Thompson, a Mississippi Democrat, and ranking member Mike Rogers, an Alabama Republican, subpoenaed Jim Watkins as part of the panel’s ongoing probe into extremist content online. The subpoena demands that Watkins appear before the committee on September 5.

ARREST IN ATTACK ON ANDY DICK… New Orleans police have arrested a suspect in Friday night’s assault on comedian and actor Andy Dick after a show in New Orleans. Surveillance video showed a man sucker-punching the comedian outside the bar where he performed. Dick said he was placed in the intensive care unit at a hospital and observed for a “possible brain bleed.”

A$AP ROCKY FOUND GUILTY… A$AP Rocky was found guilty by a judge in Sweden yesterday for his role in an assault before his appearance at a music festival. The 30-year-old American rapper, whose real name is Rakim Mayers, returned to the U.S. earlier this month after being detained in Sweden for about a month. He was accused of beating a 19-year-old man on June 30 outside a fast-food restaurant in central Stockholm. The charges carried a maximum sentence of two years in prison but the rapper won’t face more jail time and was ordered to the victim pay damages amounting to $1,309.

COLORADO 7 – Arizona 6… Nolan Arenado’s two-run homer in the bottom of the ninth inning lifted the Rockies over the Diamondbacks. Ryan McMahon blasted a three-run homer for Colorado.

WASHINGTON 17 – Cincinnati 7… The Nationals erupted to score 10 runs in the bottom of the fifth inning and followed with a six-run sixth. Adam Eaton and Kurt Suzuki hit three-run homers. Anthony Rendon drilled a solo shot.

PHILADELPHIA 11 – Chi. Cubs 1… The Phillies built a 10-0 lead after three innings and never looked back in their pounding of the Cubs. J.T. Realmuto unloaded a grand slam. Bryce Harper homered twice and drove home three runs.

L.A. Dodgers 9 – MIAMI 1… Edwin Rios hit a pair of homers and knocked in three runs for the Dodgers. Corey Seager hit a two-run homer and singled home a run. Justin Turner also went deep. Clayton Kershaw (12-2) limited Miami to two hits and struck out 10 over seven innings.

ATLANTA 6– N.Y. Mets 4… The Braves pushed across five runs in the bottom of the seventh inning on their way to completing a sweep of the Mets. Ender Inciarte double home one run and singled in another.

Texas 7 – TORONTO 3… Danny Santana doubled home a pair of runs and homered for the Rangers. Elvis Andrus went 4-for-5 with two RBIs.

N.Y. YANKEES 6 – Baltimore 5… Gary Sanchez belted a three-run homer to cap a four-run bottom of the first inning and Mike Ford lined a two-run single in the sixth as the Yankees held off the Orioles. Sanchez was 3-for-3 on the day.

Boston 5 – CLEVELAND 1… Xander Bogaerts went 3-for-4 with a pair of homers and four RBIs in leading the Red Sox past the Indians. Rafael Devers had a couple of hits including a solo homer.

CHI. WHITE SOX 13 – Houston 9… James McCann connected for a grand slam as the White Sox slugged their way past the Astros. Eloy Jimenez also circled the bases. Jose Abreu and Welington Castillo drove in two runs apiece.

DETROIT 3 – Seattle 2… Edwin Jackson (3-5) allowed two runs on our hits over five innings. Victor Reyes had a couple of hits, including a two-run single. Harold Castro went 3-for-4 and singled home a run.

MILWAUKEE 6 – Minnesota 5… Trent Grisham’s three-run homer in the bottom of the eighth inning gave the Brewers a come-from-behind win over the Twins. Eric Thames went 3-for-4 a pair of run-scoring singles.

SAN DIEGO 7 – Tampa Bay 2… Luis Urias stroked a two-run double, Eric Hosmer homered and the Padres topped the Rays. Cal Quantrill (6-3) gave up two runs on three hits over 5-1/3 innings and helped himself at the plate with an RBI single.

Oakland 9 – SAN FRANCISCO 5… The Athletics used a 15-hit attack to throttle the Giants. Matt Chapman hit two solo homers. Robbie Grossman homered with a runner aboard. Matt Olson also knocked in two runs. Homer Bailey (10-8) pitched two-hit ball over seven scoreless innings.

St. Louis 6 – KANSAS CITY 0… Dakota Hudson (11-6) held the Royals to five hits over six innings and three relievers completed the shutout. Paul DeJong homered for St. Louis. Randy Arozarena went 2-for-4 with a run-scoring single.

L.A. ANGELS 7 – Pittsburgh 4… Albert Pujols drove home three runs with a pair of singles as the Angels downed the Pirates. Luis Rengifo had a couple of hits and two RBIs.
