COURT RULES THAT TRUMP MUST TURN OVER TAX RETURNS… A federal appeals court ruled yesterday that President Trump must turn over eight years of personal and corporate tax returns to Manhattan prosecutors. The ruling came in response to a grand jury subpoena by Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr., who is investigating alleged hush-money payments made to women just before the 2016 presidential election. Lawyers representing Trump say they’ll take their case to the Supreme Court. Trump promised during the 2016 presidential campaign that he would release his taxes but has since refused to do so.

GIULIANI ASSOCIATE TO ASSIST IN TRUMP IMPEACHMENT INQUIRY… An associate of President Trump’s personal attorney Rudy Giuliani who is under indictment on campaign-finance charges is now prepared to comply with requests for materials and testimony from Congress in the impeachment inquiry against President Trump. Reuters reported yesterday that Lev Parnas aided Giuliani in digging up dirt on Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden. Parnas and his associate, Igor Fruman, have both pleaded not guilty to being part of a scheme that used a shell company to donate to a pro-Trump election committee. They’re also accused of raising money for an ex-congressman as part of an attempt to get the then-U.S. ambassador to Ukraine removed from her post. In addition, Parnas is tied to pro-Trump lawyers Victoria Toensing and Joe DiGenova. Both were hired by Dmytro Firtash, a Ukrainian oligarch wanted by U.S. authorities over conspiracy charges. According to his lawyer, Parnas’ decision to cooperate with the inquiry was the result of “President Trump’s plainly false statement that he did not know him.” Parnas has maintained that he has had extensive dealings with Trump.

U.S. FILES PAPERWORK TO LEAVE PARIS ACCORD… The Trump administration yesterday filed paperwork to withdraw from the Paris climate accord. The filing came on the first day it was eligible to give a one-year notice to the international community to exit the agreement aimed at combatting climate change. With the paperwork filed, the U.S. will reportedly leave the accord on November 4, 2020.

MASS RELEASE OF OKLAHOMA PRISONERS… More than 400 inmates were released in Oklahoma yesterday as part of the largest mass commutation in U.S. history. The releases followed last week’s commutation of 500 inmates’ sentences by the Oklahoma Pardon and Parole Board in response to the state’s criminal justice reform. 462 inmates walked free yesterday with more to follow. The released inmates were doing time for nonviolent crimes.

E. JEAN CARROLL SUES TRUMP… Advice columnist E. Jean Carroll has filed a defamation suit against President Trump, claiming he damaged her reputation by denying her accusation that he sexually assaulted her more than 20 years ago. According to the suit, Trump made “express statements and deliberate implications” that accused her of lying about the rape in order to increase sales of her memoir. The suit seeks unspecified compensatory and punitive damages.

ENTERTAINMENT
CAROL BURNETT JOINS ‘MAD ABOUT YOU’ REVIVAL… Carol Burnett has signed on to the “Mad About You” revival. She will reprise her Emmy-winning role as the mother of Helen Hunt’s character when the show returns for a limited run on the Spectrum Originals streaming service later this month. The show centers on a New York married couple played by Hunt and Paul Reiser. The NBC series that aired 164 episodes before its finale in May 1999. The revival debuts on November 20 and will conclude its season on December 18.

CHER ADDS CONCERT DATES… Cher has announced additional North American dates for her ongoing “Here We Go Again” tour. The singer will resume the 2020 portion of the tour March 6 in El Paso, Texas, and will also perform in Oklahoma City, Memphis, Miami, Cincinnati, Green Bay, Kansas City and Salt Lake City, among other cities. The tour supports Cher’s ABBA cover album, “Dancing Queen.”

Dallas 37 – N.Y. GIANTS 18… Dak Prescott threw for 257 yards and found three different receivers with touchdown passes as the Cowboys (5-3) handled the Giants (2-7). Jourdan Lewis capped the scoring with a 63-yard fumble return for a TD.

WASHINGTON 115 – Detroit 99… The Wizards pulled away in the second half to take down the injury-depleted Pistons. Bradley Beal led the way with 22 points.

BROOKLYN 135 – New Orleans 125… Kyrie Irving lit it up for 39 points in leading the Nets past the Pelicans. Jarrett Allen had 18 points and 10 rebounds.

Houston 107 – MEMPHIS 100… The Rockets fought off the Grizzlies despite resting Russell Westbrook. James Harden poured in 44 points and grabbed 10 boards.

Milwaukee 134 – MINNESOTA 106… Giannis Antetokounmpo pumped in 34 points and gathered 15 rebounds as the Bucks cruised past the Timberwolves. Khris Middleton added 26 points and Eric Bledsoe tossed in 22.

PHOENIX 134 – Philadelphia 109… Devin Booker poured in a game-high 40 points in leading the Suns to a come-from-behind win over the 76ers. Ricky Rubio scored 21 points and dished off 10 assists.

GOLDEN STATE 127 – Portland 118… The undermanned Warriors came up big in the second half to get past the Trail Blazers. Eric Paschall powered his way to 36 points and 13 boards.

Nashville 6 – DETROIT 1…The Predators scored five unanswered goals in the second period after to erase an early deficit and put away the Red Wings. Matt Duchene scored two goals.

Arizona 3 – EDMONTON 2 (OT)… Derek Stepan scored at 2:01 of overtime to lift the Coyotes over the Oilers. Michael Grabner and Carl Soderberg netted unassisted goals.
