FORMER FBI DIRECTOR SAYS TRUMP ADMINISTRATION IS WITHHOLDING EVIDENCE… Former FBI deputy director Andrew McCabe is accusing the Trump administration of withholding evidence related to his wrongful termination lawsuit. A declaration filed by McCabe’s attorney yesterday claims that several agencies and 30 individuals have yet to hand over any materials requested as part of his lawsuit against the FBI and the Department of Justice following his firing in March 2018. McCabe was ousted just two days before he was set to retire after a Justice Department inspector general report found that he had repeatedly misstated his involvement in a news media disclosure regarding an FBI investigation into the Clinton Foundation. McCabe contends his firing was the result of Trump’s plan to rid the agency of leaders he perceives as disloyal to him.

GIULIANI FALSELY CLAIMS HE WAS U.S. ATTORNEY GENERAL… President Trump’s personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani is facing backlash for falsely claiming on his Facebook page that he is a “former attorney general of the United States.” The page also describes Giuliani as a “government official” even though he holds no official government position. Giuliani did serve as U.S. associate attorney general under President Ronald Regan from 1981 to 1983.

BLOOMBERG CAMPAIGN CALLS MADE BY INMATES… The Intercept reported yesterday that Democratic presidential candidate Michael Bloomberg used prison labor to make campaign calls. The report claims the calls were arranged by a New Jersey-based company that runs two of its call centers out of state prisons. Inmates at a minimum-security women’s prison were allegedly making calls to California and were required to disclose at the end of the calls that they were paid by the Bloomberg campaign. The Bloomberg campaign says it ended its relationship with the call-center company after the story was published.

U.S. RECALLS AMBASSADOR TO ZAMBIA… The State Department has confirmed that it has recalled ambassador to Zambia after he waded into a dispute over gay and lesbian rights with the president of the southern African nation. Diplomat Daniel Foote was recalled after Zambian President Edgar Lungu announced he would no longer work with him. The American envoy last month criticized 15-year prison sentences handed down to two gay men convicted of having sex. Sexual relations among gay Zambians, even consensual, is illegal.

FORMER MARINE REMAINS IN RUSSIAN CUSTODY… A U.S. Marine accused of espionage will remain held in Russia until at least March following a court ruling in Moscow yesterday. 49-year-old Paul Whelan faces up to 20 years in prison on the spying charge. He claims he was in Russia to attend a wedding last year when he was taken into custody. Prosecutors say Whelan was caught with a flash drive that contained Russian “state secrets.”

RAPPER DaBABY FACING CHARGES… Grammy-nominated rapper DaBaby was cited on counts of misdemeanor possession of marijuana and resisting an officer in Charlotte, North Carolina, just hours after he performed a concert and gave away toys to children on Monday. Police officers working outside the concert venue noticed a strong smell of marijuana coming from the van that the rapper was traveling in and could see marijuana in plain view through the windows. DaBaby allegedly walked away from officers and refused to talk to them when they approached him following the show.
