IMPEACHMENT TRIAL UNDERWAY… The first full day of President Trump’s impeachment trial lasted 13 hours until nearly 2 a.m. Eastern before the Senate approved rules for the proceeding. The approval came in a party-line vote of 53-47 that delays the question of whether the Senate should subpoena witnesses and documents until next week. Prior to Senate Majority Mitch McConnell’s introduction of the rules resolution, Republicans defeated 11 amendments from Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer that were seeking to subpoena documents and witnesses. The trial resumes at 1 p.m. Eastern today.
