DETAILS FROM BOLTON’S BOOK CONTINUE TO LEAK… Details from a forthcoming book written by former national security adviser John Bolton continue to be leaked to the media. The New York Times reported yesterday that Bolton told Attorney General William Barr he had concerns about President Trump giving favors to the autocratic leaders of Turkey and China. The report claims that Bolton remembers Barr expressing concern that Trump indicated that he had influence over independent Justice Department investigations relating to entities in both countries. Bolton, his publisher, and his literary agency insist they did not share the manuscript with the Times. The newspaper reported that Bolton’s discussion with Barr was included in a manuscript submitted for White House review almost one month ago. Revelations are strengthening Democrats’ efforts to seek Bolton’s testimony in Trump’s impeachment.

SUPREME COURT APPROVES TRUMP IMMIGRANT RULES… The Supreme Court voted 5-4 yesterday to let the Trump administration implement new rules designed to deny U.S. residency or admission to immigrants seen as a risk of becoming “public charges.” The decision lifted an injunction imposed by a district judge in New York that blocked the policy, which was criticized as a “wealth test” to keep out non-white immigrants. The new rules will make it easier to screen out green card applicants because they have or might require government assistance.

PENTAGON CONFIRMS U.S. PLANE CRASH IN AFGHANISTAN… The Pentagon has confirmed that a U.S. aircraft crashed in eastern Afghanistan yesterday. Military officials say the cause of the crash is under investigation and denied reports that the plane was brought down by enemy fire. It wasn’t clear how many people were aboard the Air Force Bombardier E-11A, which is used to conduct electronic surveillance.

PRINCE ANDREW NOT COOPERATING WITH INVESTIGATORS… Federal prosecutor Geoffrey Berman claims Britain’s Prince Andrew has provided “zero cooperation” to U.S. authorities investigating sex trafficking allegations against the late financier Jeffrey Epstein and co-conspirators. The FBI and prosecutors got nowhere in their efforts to interview the prince. Berman did not say when U.S. authorities had requested the interview.

8 DEAD IN ALABAMA BOAT FIRES… Authorities in Scottsboro, Alabama, have confirmed that eight people died and 35 boats were destroyed in a fire along the Tennessee River early yesterday. Officials anticipate the death toll will rise as bodies are found in boats that sank. Most of the destroyed vessels were houseboats, officials said. Investigators say the blaze consumed a wooden dock and an aluminum roof that covered many of the vessels, which cut off escape routes.
