CORONAVIRUS UPDATES… The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in the U.S. has reached 27,390,465 and the nation’s death toll stands at 475,291, according to figures released last night by Johns Hopkins University… President Joe Biden announced yesterday that the U.S. will have enough coronavirus vaccines for 300 million Americans by the end of July. Moderna and Pfizer will deliver a total of 200 million coronavirus vaccine doses two months earlier than expected. The companies will also deliver 100 million expected doses by the end of May, rather than the end of June… Earlier yesterday, the nation’s leading infectious diseases expert, Dr. Anthony Fauci, said during an appearance on the “Today” show that the general public could have access to Covid-19 vaccines in April, and the country may be able to inoculate most Americans by the middle or end of the summer. Fauci predicted the pace of vaccination will pick up next month.

DEMS REST CASE IN TRUMP IMPEACHMENT TRIAL… House impeachment managers yesterday rested their case on the third day of former President Trump’s second Senate impeachment trial. Prosecutors called their Republican colleagues to convict Trump of inciting the January 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol and presented video clips and other evidence showing participants insisting they attacked at Trump’s request. Five people including a police officer died in the attack. Two more police officers involved in the response died by suicide in the days afterward. House mangers warned the same level of violence could happen again if Trump is not held accountable.

5 MORE PROUD BOYS MEMBERS CHARGED IN CAPITOL ATTACK… The Justice Department yesterday unsealed conspiracy charges against five people associated with the Proud Boys and asked that a member of the Oath Keepers be held without bond in filings related to the January 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol. The five were charged with conspiracy, civil disorder, obstruction of an official proceeding, knowingly entering or remaining in a restricted building or grounds without lawful authority and disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds. Their arrests raised the number of Proud Boys members facing charges to more than a dozen.

BIDEN ENDS BORDER-WALL FUNDING… President Joe Biden yesterday officially ended the national emergency declaration that used federal money to fund wall construction along the southern border with Mexico. Biden called the border wall “unwarranted” in a letter to Vice President Kamala Harris and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. Last month, Biden had signed an executive order stopping wall construction.
